Yoga Stomach cleansing

As I stumbled on something useful, which may indirectly help to be spiritual, I am posting as under
aman dhauti (kunjal kriya) (regurgitive cleaning)


Vaman dhauti helps to increase the efficiency of the abdominal muscle. As we consume large amount of water it stretches the stomach muscles and the gastric folds (mucous membrane folds in stomach) become straight and stretched. It helps to remove excess mucus and acid secretion. The oesophagus and stomach can be cleaned with this process. It also helps to remove the trapped gases and the fermented food in the stomach. Due to this the pressure on heart is also relived. As the water is salted it will not be absorbed, instead water along with toxins from the blood will come in the stomach and will be vomited out. So, it is a processes which helps in digestive problems, improves digestion, improves the strength of abdominal muscles, and to relive the pressure on heart.

As a preparation for the practice of this processes trim your finger nails and wash your hands properly.
Prepare two liters of luke warm water and add two tea spoon of salt to it.
Start the process by drinking the lukewarm water. Drink at least six to eight glasses of salted water and continue drinking until you feel the stomach is full and heavy. It is important that you drink the water fast and do not keep sipping it. After this the urge to vomit will occure. Lean forward and put the index, middle, and ring finger of your right hand in the mouth. Rub gently at the base of the tongue near the throat and induce vomiting. Try to empty the stomach completely.

Vyaghra kriya (tiger practice)

It is the same as vaman dhauti, but it is practiced when the stomach contains undigested food.

Gaja karan kriya (elephant action )

It is the advanced form of vaman dhauti. In this the abdominal muscles are contracted and pressure is increased on the stomach so that the water comes out of the mouth with force.


Note - Cleansing techniques are to be practiced only under the guidance of Yoga Expert.

:-)  Thanks for the update.  If you have found purpose and some satisfaction in trying it, that is good.  I am not sure that I would get into that, but it is interesting.  I like the sudoki and agree that it can be absorbing...lol!

I did stomach cleansing for 7 days. Since last two morninngs, i could not do it.
It is true, in 7 days , it has not done any miracle.I could so it is imporatant and now i have confidence that I could do it as when i want to do it.
Usually this type of therapy, i do as an adjunct therapy.It may helpor it may not help but i see that it does not do any harm.
Other thing i had not mentioned to you about this therapy.A naturopath has mentioned that if you tingle or rub your your toungue and create a sensation of naucea, for a second, then also it works. I do so sor the last 4 months as a routine.This may be helping somewhat- we cant be sure. Vomitting is suggested ritht freom the time of hypocrie(Oldest physician. Any way cleansing can always be hepful.
Has done 100 Sudoki from 6th may onward. Now speed is 25 minutes. Ofcourse, I do chat the computer. I confirm all my moves before i proceed further. I think i will become an addict of Sudoku. I could never realize that a game can be so absorbing..Ok.

I will send you feed back. Even with 4 day treatment, i started getting intense humger. I am still learning. It is still not deep cleanisin. It will take some practice.
In yoga there is cleansin for everything. lkie noese ear, throat, etes, intestine , heart.

In the above posting i tried to write that fasting is an another techniue to give rest to the digestive system.It is good to give rest to the digestive system periodicall.
I could never do fast. So i found out another method i.e called khichadri fast.We take only that food for the whole period. for atleast 5 days. I had taken for 10 days. It was good, lessening gas formation.
I am enjoying experimenting. My eye sight is much better than before. However i would continue to make my own unique spelling. Jagrut is on cyber holiday. I received his automatic response.

For the last three days i have done it. I will be doing it for 15 days at a stretch. It is not difficult. First you have to see somebody doing. ane then some couragge. I am trying to see where it leads to. This practice is quuite popular with yoga enthusist.
Fasting is aksi ibe if te tecbuqye ti guve rest to our digestive system. I cannot do fasting. So i started with Khichadi fast. Here we eat only khichide and melted butter. Khichadi is combination of Rice and Mung Dal. This supposed to be ligt and nutrios food. I did it for 10 days.
I have some digesive issues- so trying to experiment.

I am literally petrified of throwing up! It sounds like it would work but, oh no I do not think I can do it! Is there another way?
