Ringing In Ear Before Stroke

Hello all, this will be the second time that I have attempted to post here. Oh well here go's. I have two questions. Number one. Is there a relationship between  ringing in left ear,dizziness,nausea and vomiting and Stroke. I had those symptoms over a year before my Stroke. My second question may seem ignorant, but here goes. When I was in the Hospital, I was told that I had Heart failure as well as a Stroke. Did the Heart failure cause the Stroke, or did the Stroke cause the Heart failure. Hi thawk. When I had my first stroke in 1988, I didn't know it. It started with a ringing in my ear (tinnitis) and a headache and I went to an ear nose & throat Dr who also was unaware that I had a stroke. It was more than 2 weeks later before it was diagnosed. Too late. I lost the hearing in my right ear and most of the hearing in my left. So your concern about a "ringing" is valid. The heart issue is something else. Most strokes are related in some way to the heart or blood vessels and pressure. However, not all strokes are related to them. Since it appears that both your stroke and heart condition started at the same time, my guess is they were related. I have had heart palps and pinching pains as well as tests showing some stenosis of coratid but passed the stress echo...I stagger sometimes..have the tinnitus and recently after having heart oddness and a neck adjustment I got pins and needles behind my right ear then tinnitus in that ear which I never had before..also I get headaches in the middle of back of head

Please see a neurologist as soon as possible. The effects of a stroke might diminish in time but the damage can lead to other and possibly more serious strokes. I had a stroke and was unaware of it for weeks and lost most of my hearing. Please see a Dr as soon as possible and have an MRI. Good luck.

Hi, 3.5 miles wow that's impressive. I could never walk that far. I walk the Dog for a few blocks then that's it. Luckily for me I am almost never nauseated. My main problems are with balance, I stagger when I walk. I also have stiffen in my right Shoulder,Arm and Hand. It feels like it weighs a ton. I can move and use it however. I have some other minor symptoms, but they are not worth noting.

I walked quite far yesterday almost 3.5 miles. I felt dizzy.
Do you feel nauseated when you read? I cant read for long without getting dizzy.
I just found out that they gave me too much dye in my mri. the calculated it wrong. I got an overdose of dye and I think thats why I have these symptoms although I couldnt prove it. I am really made about it, but i need to focus on getting better.

To catherineandre I had my Stroke in June of 2006. I was in the Hospital for 5 weeks. I was told that I had a Stroke and Heart Failure. I am still confused about which occurred first. My symptoms are disoriention poor balance and fatigue. I have seen my condition improve greatly over the last few months. I hope it will continue. I have ringing in my ears, headache, nausea when I read, dizziness and cant walk far distances without feeling unwell.
When did you have your stroke?
I find now that I am in my 8 week the ringing in my ears is not constant and the headache does feel like a pressure but my head does feel funny.

Not sure if this is the same with you but with my mother in-law her stroke was caused by her heart attack.  After her heart attack she was alone in bed for possibly over 24 hours, they suspect that after her heart attack, she went into Afib which cause the blood to pool in the heart and clot.  The clot eventually made it to her brain.

My mother in-laws stroke has left her unable to speak, communicate, walk or use her  right arm.  Since July 06 she has had a heart attack and two strokes.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Yes I did have an MRI. It was used to diagnose my Stroke. One of the Arteries was blocked, not far after the Y junction. I was told that I had a Stroke on the left side. I had the MRI at least a day after I was admitted. Those times were foggy at best.
