My name is Heather Daniel. I had a hemarrahgic stroke caused by an AVM. It is now almost six months past and I can walk witout a cane around the house(AFO on my ankle) but not outdoors yet. I can move my arm up and down and can clench my fingers but I can not open my hand yet. I am taking amino acids and am going to therapy and acupuncture threee times a week.

What was your wife doing in terms of recovery at six months post stroke?

Heather

Also, I am told that the highest rate or speed of recovery typically occurs in the first 3 months. From 3 to 6 months the rate slows. 6 months to a year, the rate of recover will slow further. Keep in mind, it's the rate or speed of recovery that slows however, recover continues in most cases. I was told that at the one year point, my wife would see no further recovery. Bull! She continues to recover however, it's real slow now. Real slow. It's my belief that you must keep up with it everyday.
In my wife's case, taking amino acids was but one small part. I see it as, it's all the little tings ones does that makes a big difference. Work your issues everyday and NEVER GIVE UP!

First, NEVER GIVE UP. Keep at it.
As you may already know, every stroke seems to be different.  My wife had very minor effects to her left side, arm and leg. Her biggest issues was her let peripheral vision was damaged and some of her cognitive skills diminished.  At six months, she still had issues but was recovering, slowly.  It's now been just over 18 months and my best guess is that she has recovered to about 90+%. Although I will not give up, it would appear her vision defect may be permanent.
It's a long road. Stay with it.

Hi

My name is Jacci, I had a stroke caused by a clot and lost the whole right side of my body. It is now 3 months on and I have regained almost everything. There was a time where I thought this is how i'd be for the rest of my life but I did not give up.

I just wanted to say hi and keep on going.
