Anyone Taking Vitex And How Is It Working For You?

Hi Everyone!

My Naturopathic Doctor has just prescribed me to take Vitex:  30 drops/3 times a day/everyday to help balance out my hormones and cycle.  Can you please share your experiences good or bad with using Vitex And what else are you taking with it?  Thank-you for sharing.  GOD BLESS.

I started taking Vitex two cycles ago.  My last depo shot wore off in May, and I was averaging 20 day cycles...YUCK!  My first cycle on Vitex was a few days longer, and my last cycle was like 30 days.  I also got a BFP last cycle, but it was a chemical:(  But I'm okay, and keeping my fingers crossed this time around!

I can tell Vitex made a HUGE difference.  I even quit spotting, which I was doing more days than I wasn't!  I'm also taking the Nature's Way 400mg pills...2 capsules, twice daily, just like the bottle says:)

Hi Jenna,

Don't give up 'HOPE Girl...It'll happen!  I'm having a great first month with Vitex without the use of my ProgonB.  My cycle is already back to normal and I feel fantastic, so I know Vitex is doing what it should for me.  Doing basal body temperature(BBT) is a great addition to helping you figure out if you 'O' already.  I've been doing BBT for the last two cycles along with cm checks and it definately gives you lots of hormonal information about your cycle.  Thank-you for the update and keep in touch.

Just letting you know I finally ovulated!! I don't know if it was just my body finally figuring things out after 3 months of being off the birth control pill, or if Vitex was the reason. Either way, I am ecstatic!

I'm taking the Nature's Way pill form of it - 400 mg twice daily. I took it all month long last cycle because I never ovulated, and I wasn't officially TTC yet. This month, I will take it until I get a positive OPK, IF that happens. I haven't had any side effects from it at all.

Your right it can take some time to balance things out.  I've been on a natural progesterone(progonb) for the past 11 months, along with EPO and other vitamins and minerals to help top things up because I miscarrried a little over a year ago from low progesterone.  My Naturopathic Doctor wants me to try Vitex now because my levels are peaked and thinks Vitex will help maintain it.  How much do you take and for how long in your cycle?  Did you get any side effects from it?  Thank-you.

I just started my 2nd cycle with Vitex. I didn't ovulate the first cycle on it but I've heard it can take up to 3 months to work. I'll let you know if I ovulate this cycle. I'm also taking prenatal vitamins and just a few days ago started taking EPO.
