Acupuncture - how are you doing with it?

I'm Linda, 46, and ttc naturally after 10 yrs.  I have not yet consulted a physician about my chances of conceiving, but am doing whatever I can to help my body welcome a healthy pregnancy.  I'm not exactly in perfect health (bone issues mostly), but don't believe that my issues affect my ability to have a successful pregnancy or to continue being a connected and present mom.  I started acupuncture as soon as we decided to ttc, and have had 2 sessions so far.  I am literally shocked at the quick and powerful results of these treatments.  I have had painful ovulations and lots of cramping, breast tenderness, and clotty periods for about the past year.  I began bbt tracking and acupuncture at the beginning of this cycle and am already seeing good results.  I've ovulated and am in the 2ww, and am not experiencing any of the painful symptoms I have come to expect.  Like I said, I'm really amazed at the results so far.  I am having the acupuncturist work on my general health, not just fertility.  I am also juicing (have for years), taking baby aspirin, and using natural progesterone cream during the 2ww until able to take a pregnancy test.  If you have tried acupuncture in your journey to ttc, I would love to hear about your experiences.

Enjoying the adventure!
Linda

Hey, I just wanted to say that as I listed above I am on a number of different herbs... ALL of the recommendations that I have read... state that you should NEVER take the herbs while taking Fertility MEDICATIONS... such as clomid, Femera etc... They fight and counter act each and can cause issues... I have read and researched on a number of different sites and such the  use of herbs for naturally getting pregnant... and there have been great results... and it does not costs as much...lol

I have also used acupuncture and love it... but can not afford to currently receive it as it is out of my price range...

There are some herbs that should not be taken while pregnant even tho they are recommended to assist in getting that way!!! I have talked to naturopathic doctors and some herbs will support the developing fetus and some are too much for the fetus and pregnant body to handle... one of my favorite websites about this is natural fertility info . com... there are other sites as well that give information...

Just a bit of information and my opinion...

SSBD to all and wishing you peace and happiness... Breath!!!!

Hi, I was on Gonal F and Menopur and took Chinese herbs  prescribed by my acupuncturost during one of my IVF cycles and produced the poorest quality of embryos (had 4 IVFs in total).  There hasnt been a lot of studies on the combination of chinese herbs and western medicine and there have been suggestions that they may not work well together.  I just thought I'd share my experience with you, as I truly regret that particular cycle.

I would also highly recommend acupuncture.

SSBD to all..

Alexis, when you were doing acupuncture did you take herbs too? Now that you are pregnant are you still taking the herbs? Also did you take them while taking Femara and injections of Gonal-F?

I was taking Femara instead of clomid.   My RE preferred Femara for older women, its not as hard on our lining.    I also took injections of Gonal-F.    I tried naturally for almost a year and had 2 m/c's.   I also did acupuncture along with these meds.

Hi I am 42 had a TR last year and TTC if you don't mind me asking what fertility meds were you taking. I was taking clomid for 4 months had 1 miscarriage in April of this year. I'm not taking anything now hoping to conceive naturally. My FSH was 13.9 after surgery and before taking clomid is that good.

Congrats to you!!!!!!!!!

Just saw your post.   I'm 43 and 16 weeks pregnant.  I used acupuncture along with fertility meds.   I started ttc at 41 with an fsh of 13 which is high.   My RE told me not to focus on the number or even spend money on herbs or therapies to lower it as the number didn't really matter.   Its just a gauge to give them an "idea" of how many eggs we have left.   You CAN'T make more eggs even if you take supplements to lower your FSH.   I never focused on my FSH, just kept going to acupuncture 1 time per week for a year.    I did have 2 m/c's in that year, but I am now 16 weeks with a healthy little boy.     I think the acupuncture helps alot, both body and soul, and is definately an asset in TTC.    Good luck to you.

Wow, Linda! It sounds like you are doing all the right! I hope you get a BFP right away! :) But even if it takes a few months, just stick with what works, namely the acupuncture! I would be still doing it right now if I had the money. I felt pretty good results from it too! I think you will find alot of acu success stories. From everything I've read, it can be very helpful in conjunction with IVF, too.

Welcome to the group! There are alot of great ladies on this site who are always there with support when the news is good or bad! Best wishes to you for to be successful soon in your TTC journey! (hopefully THIS cycle!) SSBD! :)
