ANYONE USING METFORMIN?

I am trying my best to stick with it...it is soooo hard. It makes me feel nauseated! I'm not sure if I can get a script for the nausea, but I'm thinking I'm going to need something soon. I know  some women take it & don't get nauseated at all, but a lot of us do. ;o)

This was my 2nd week for sticking with it. I've heard that the nausea will let up after a month...REALLY! ;o) Hope I make it.

Hey Lady...

I've just tried the refill mets & so far so good. I won't know for sure until the am, but I only took 1tab to test. ;o) I just couldn't, because I stiil have the Sun Pharm reaction on my mind. (ha) I also called the nurse to tell her that I still hadn't tried the new one, but that I would. She is sending samples of different...I'm guessing brands. I'll see what happens, but am hoping these new ones will give diff results. I couldn't stomach going back to the last of the SP.

If the number is different on the pill it is most likely from a different manufacturer.  I called a local Walgreens and they carry one by Teva Pharmaceuticals so I will try that one next.

I didn't know there were 2 types. I don't think I can get it here in the states, but am going to look for a like supp. In the info that I found about it, it says that it is an antihisamine.

I am over hearing screaming with laughter the way you described getting sick. Just the thought of it makes me ill. THANK YOU for that exact decription...it (Sun 142) IS the VERY one that I have & the one that makes me feel like I have to live with my face in a sink...it is AWFUL. ;o)

I called the nurse & they are going to send me a new script & something for nausea. I'm so afraid to try something new for fear that it will make me sick like this one. I'm going to call the pharmacy tomorrow and ask about the refill. I think the refill might be another brand, because the number changed to (571-but it is in a script bottle...company name not shown). It says metformin (Glucophage EQ) XR on the bottle, but the other said the same thing. The pills are different shape & size, but they put a sticky on the bt. that says it is the same, but I'm calling tomorrow to ask if it is the same brand. Yuck...no-no....DOUBLE YUCK! ;o)

A friend of mines takes them for diabetes & hers are round (#397). Well, I'm going to see what the nurse sends me tomorrow & will also call the pharmacy, because I won't be able to take these...my mind won't allow it. (ha)

I hope I get one a brand that I can tolerate...it's suppose to help with making eggs stronger is what I'm told.

Thanks again for the info & the invite. ;o)

The brand I am on now is from Caraco or SunP pharmaceuticals(has a 142 on it).  It makes me gag if a pill even just touches my tongue.  It is hard to get down and makes me nauseous.  My old brand was Par Pharmaceuticals(had a 6065 on it).  Name brand is Glucophage.  I've read that the generics taste awful and that is what I have found.  I will definitely try another brand next time.  My dh said you can just call pharmacies and ask what brand they carry (he's a pharmacist).

It did not make me magicallly lose weight without diet and exercise.  But the nauseousness could help!  I was on it maybe 7 months before conceiving my dd.  I amnot sure if ithelped ot not.  I really feel the femara and trigger is what helped.

What's ginger root gravol?  Sounds like a natural alternative to gravol?

Thank you for the reply. I'm taking XR & it is AWFUL. ;o) I called & spoke with the nurse today & she said there is a different type/brand? & that I could try that one. She said that a few of the other patients were complaining as well. If you have the brand name or a different type, please pm me that info so that if this new script doesn't work out, I can try that one. They may send me the same brand/type that you are speaking of. I've tried everything...taking with food...at bed time, breaking up the dosage...to no avail. I wake up nauseated...I mean it is absolutely awful! So, I also asked for meds to help with the nausea, just in case none of the brands work. ;o)

I haven't taken it for a couple days & I still heave just thinking about it. YUCK. ;o) Did you lose weight from it before? I've heard that some women do. Do you think it helped in conceiving dd? How long were you on it before conceiving her? Thanks again for sharing.

I am on the met-XR and yes it also causes me a lot of nausea.  The funny thing is that I also took it 2y ago when TTC my dd and it did not bother me at all then.  Turns out I took a different brand back then (I could tell because I had some pills left and compared them to the ones I have now).  When I renew my script I will ask for the name brand and see if that helps or call around and see if I can find a pharmacy which carries my old one.  It is worth trying a different brand just to see if it makes a difference.  The pharmacies just carry whatever is cheapest at the time they make the order.
One thing that helps is taking it at night and also after food.  I have also heard the XR (extended release) is less nauseating than the regular.

Hey Chicky-baby,

Thank you for the reply & the best wishes. ;o) I'm going to try this gravol. I can purchase it in the healthfood store? I need something to continue on it. I'm going to see if the RE's nurse can send me a script...I hate this feeling.

Nice 3D sound pics...looking forward to the next set. ;0)

Honey, you have no idea how badly I hope this works for you!  You so deserve this to happen, and soon!!  I don't know a thing about metformin, but for nausea...have you tried Gravol?  When I was on clomid I used the natural ginger root gravol and it worked really well for me.  All natural, and didn't make me drowsy.  Love ya girlfriend, and hang in there..your time is coming!!  XO
