Gonal-F and IUI Question

Okay ladies, I need help.    I just went in for day 13 u/s.   I was taking Femara day 3 - 7 and Gonal-F starting day 7 thru today.   I have 3 follies:  2 size 14.5 and 1 size 15.5.   They told me to take 3 more days of the Gonal-F and then come in for u/s.   I am set up for an IUI, but I'm worried that we may pass the date.   I always ovulate on day 14 of my normal cycle without meds.   CD 14 is tomorrow and they don't want me to come in again until CD16.   I'm so worried.

Anyone else have the situation?

Thanks so much

Fingers crossed.   We definately got the timing covered thats for sure.   I went in for IUI on Friday.  They didn't re-measure any follies, but even if they continued to grow at the rate that they were they would be 17, 18 and 18.5.   We covered the base on the day before at home, then Friday they RE said that hubbies sample was the best he as seen in a long time.    Then we covered the next day too.    Now we are in the 2 ww, so I'm really hoping and praying.

I'm glad you took care of business;)  If your hubby has good sperm count I would bd tonight again too!  Both times on Gonal & Clomid my follies last were always measured @ 22mm right BEFORE O, like within 24 hours before.
But I've been told (& read) that anything over 14mm, CAN O, although they are looking for 18mm+  So if you have one little guy behind, he just might come to the party & O too;)

I know, I'm a bit frightened, but this may be the problem of why I'm struggling each month.  However, I'm still hoping that they get big enough by time O actually occurs.   They were growing at a rate of 2 a day, and that was yesterday, so by tomorrow or next day when O actually occurs they'll be at 20.   Hope, hope hope

Thanks

I usually didn't ovulate until the follicles were 20+.  14/15 seems small to O.  I was also given Cetrotide to stop O while some of the smaller follicles caught up to the bigger ones.  Good luck!

So far so good, I'm on CD 14 and have been checking the OPK and nothing yet....WHEW!    I think I may be in the clear, but just in case....took care of things last night :).   My lining was at 10, so that is good, but I think you're right.   I think when I O naturally, my follies are not mature enough yet, so hopefully this is a good sign, they have a chance to grow this month before I O.

Hopefully that will be the trick.   Thanks so much, you guys are all so wonderful.  Its so reassuring to have people to talk to, too bad we weren't all sittting around drinking margaritas together :).....virgin of course :).

Lots of Hugs and wishes out to everyone.

Alexis,

Hopefully you won't OV on your own...follies need to be larger...actually, I think they want them to be at least an 18. Hang in (it's hard not to worry)...stick to the protocol & pray that this will be your time. ;o)

Mounds of RSSBD To ya,

I did 2 rounds (BFPs') of Gonal-F w/trigger, one w/IUI & the other TI.  I O between CD11-12 ALWAYS, On my medicated cycle, including last month on the CCCT (clomid) I did the same, right on time.  & all 3 were confirmed via US.
This month we did nothing, & today is my CD11 & I'm starting to get the little twinge before ovarian pain I get before I O.
If you get signs of O normally, then I would rely on that, & I'd check w/OPK's too.   I would be very concerned if I were you.  The thing is your follies are not ready yet, & really wont be @ a mature size for at least 2 more stim days.
Maybe thats part of what was going on w/you, maybe you O'd early & your follie isn't ready (too small)
But if your concerned I would for sure call your Dr & ask them about it.  They may just say you won't, but JUST in case you miss the timing for your IUI, you guys should BD tonight;)
Best of luck!!!!

I have to say, that would make me worried, too. I can't help but think that some of the IUIs I had in my 30s didn't work just because of bad timing. I'm pretty sure that Gonal-F and Femara are follicle stimulators, but that's just me trying to figure it out from the list the clinic gave me, and maybe they do more than one job.

And they've been monitoring you, and you'll be watching things with the OPK, so everything should be fine. I'll cross all my fingers for you. Good luck!!!

(I've also been given Follistim and Menopur for follicle stimulation, and respond like crazy to those meds--now, if only they also came up with some good eggs :) )

No I'm not, but thank you for the information.   I've never heard of the meds you described.   I do have a shot of Ovidrel that is supposed to start ovulation, so that makes me wonder if Gonal-F suppresses it until I give that.

When I asked the nurse, she told me that there is a possiblity that I could ovulate on my own, but to check the ovulation predictors twice a day and call them if I see anything.

Hi - Are you on anything to suppress ovulation? I was on different meds than you for follicle stim, but I'm pretty sure I was given Ganirelix to prevent me from ovulating, so that they could trigger ovulation with a shot of Novarel. Thus giving the follies longer to develop. The info kit I have from the new clinic says they might use Ganirelix or Cetrotide to suppress ovulation.
