Help re: low progesterone in early pregnancy!

Hi everyone! I got some semi-good news today! :-) I got a positive beta, a bit low at 5.0 but a very low progesterone of 4.5. :-( It was an au naturale cycle. I'm only 10 dpo but requested to have my progesterone levels checked yesterday since I've had lots of trouble with low progesterone in the past and just started Prometrium recently. (wanted to see if it was working) My dr told me to take only 100 mg twice a day. But now I'm nervous and wondering if I shouldn't take more to try to get the level up quick. Desperately don't want to m/c again! (Been having trouble absorbing anything I take orally, I think due to alot of diarrhea.) I requested a beta be done because I was already there any way, and I had a strong feeling I was pregnant. :-)

Anyone have any advice on whether to increase progesterone and how much? I've read about women who take 200 mg three times a day! I have some extra of the progesterone vaginal suppositories (200 mg). So I'm thinking of continuing the Prometrium as prescribed and then adding the suppositories at bedtime (200 mg). That would be 400 mg a day. But I've read some women who take 600 mg a day! (200 mg 3xday) I could as ITA47 suggested add the natural progesterone cream 3 x a day. Don't want to take too much. But I've read that's not really possible.

Thoughts, anyone? Anything else to help the lining? Thanks in advance! :-) SSBD to all!

Well, it's over already. I had alot of cramping last night and this morning. And I woke up feeling completely not pregnant. Now the spotting just started. So this was another chemical pregnancy. My doctor was right again. I'm ok. This was not a surprise, since he warned me this was likely last week.

I want to try to look at the bright side, which is that now I know better what I need to do to get to where I need to be. My own overall health is not adequate for becoming pregnant. I think I've been in a little bit of denial about that. I wanted to be able to just take some progesterone and have everything be ok. But I have alot more work to do on my health. I think we'll be waiting a month or two before we try. I want to feel physically really good and strong so I can have a healthy baby! My hormone imbalances are a symptom of some underlying health stuff that needs to be address further. Will still go see the new RE tomorrow to see what her perspective is on everything.

Thank you everyone so much for all your support! I'll still be checking in to see how everyone is doing! And sending lots of SSBD to everyone, too!

Thanks Savanha! That's a great idea (injectables) that I can ask my new RE about on Monday. Then I wouldn't have to worry about not absorbing the progesterone! I've never given myself a shot. Probably isn't fun and doesn't feel good, but well worth it! The suppositories are so icky but also worth it. :-)

I'm trying my best to relax. I do freelance bookkeeping and January is a really busy time for me. (year-end, 1099's and W-2's, tax returns, etc.) So am trying to keep up and not let the stress get the better of me. I can't wait until Monday to see if the beta levels are doubling. I guess by tomorrow or Mon, if the levels are doubling properly, I might test positive on a HPT. So we'll see!

Thanks again! I appreciate your support so much! :-) Keep you posted!

Hey Sherrie...

I say whatever you use, make sure you are careful. As far as the aspirin...I'm not sure when they advise you to stop once you become pregnant, but that is something you should double check. If you have an ulcer, maybe it's better not to take. Also, as far as the herbs, make absolutely sure you know what-what does before taking.

Will your doc prescribe injectable Progestrone to you? I completely understand your concern regarding your levels. I hope that all goes well.

Congratulations! Try your best to relax...no extra stress...easier said then done I know. ;o)

You're welcome ;)  Let us know what they suggest!  I'm always curious!!!
Oh & I get the chewable baby aspirin, so it's easy to bite off half ;)

Thank you SO much! I'm going to try both of those! If I tried to break the enteric-coated aspirin in half, then it would definitely start to dissolve in my stomach. I think I'll go by the health food/vitamin store as you originally suggested and tell them my situation. They are always great about helping me find what I need! Thanks! :-)

Hmmmm, thats a bit tricky........  MAYBE only 1/2 of a baby aspirin?  ORRRRR  google Don quai herb (spelling?)  It's supposed to help w/thinning out the blood, help w/ the lining, & maybe add garlic daily, in natural, or in a pill form, that also helps w/blood flow ;o)

Great idea on the baby aspirin! I was thinking about that this morning actually. But here's my dilemma with that. I have a peptic ulcer. So my GI dr would never permit me to take even a baby aspirin. But I'm thinking of taking one a day any way because this is so important. They make a kind that has an enteric-coating. I guess that would be better and might get past my stomach and into my intestines before dissolving, so it might not aggravate my ulcer.

I know that every dr including my OB/GYN will tell me to definitely not take any aspirin b/c of the ulcer. But maybe isn't this more important? I don't want to make the ulcer bleed or anything, but if it could be something that would help the blood flow and the lining, then I really want to do it. What do you think?

On the other thread I already said I take 400 vaginally 2x's per day, & about the lining, they say that baby aspirin helps w/that????  IDK......
