Just a little good news for us over 40

So I will give you a little backround about me. In April my DH decided after 8.5 years together he was ready to have a baby...I was 43 he was 47, I had a TL 14 years ago.  We went to see an RE and I went to my gyn for a physical and my primary care, she is  about 9 months younger than me. We are friendly to each other, I'm her plumber she's my doctor. She was really happy for me when I told her about going ahead with TTC. She told me her husband 63 wanted another baby, she's 4. She laughed and said no way. I got a clean bill of health from both my Dr.s so we went ahead with the ivf..I made 18 follicles, fertilized 11. We transferred 3, froze 7 in May...BFN FEt in July only one survived...bfn. So we decided to do TR in September...today we are 8DPO.  Today I went to see my Dr. I became so sad...I didn't see her belly, I almost cried. The nurse came in and I asked her, she said she due in 2 months...I don't know why but I was so relieved...WE have a chance...40 or 44.. I really still feel like I WILL concieve, maybe not today but I will! (  I went to the DR for my flu shot)

I have never heard of IVF costing so much.  Even with a donor cycle, the price for a cycle transfer should be under 20,000.  There are many refund programs out there that are under 30,000 w/donor eggs and they are refundable...

Hi, no she did it naturally. Why do you think ivf is 40,000?  With DE? That would be that.  I turned 44 in June. Don't give up and don't let them tell you your old.  Did you consider Donor embryos? I realize you both wouldn't have the dna, but if you give birth and carry it for 9 months I'm sure it would be your!  My DH promised me if we don't get our BFP after a year after our TR, that he would do it. We have done one ivf and fet with BFN's. We decided financially the TR was our way to go...good luck in no matter what you decide!
Hugs and SSBD to you

Hi Melanie,

Thank you for the great story.  I presume your Dr. did IVF??  Or was it natural?  Unfortunately I just don't have the 40 grand for IVF and my insurance doesn't cover it.

Thanks for posting this ....we need all the good news to help us stay positive and strong! My nurse told me of 2 amazing stories of women who got pregnant through IVF! One at 45 and one at 49! Like I said, believe you can get pregnant and your body will follow! And then another 2 who got pregnant naturally using DHEA, one at 38 and one at 41!

I actually believe most women over 40 can be pregnant if the doctors didn't spend so much time telling us how old we are and how slim our chances are!  I was all positive when we started and he told me all the bad news...I was devastated...my Dr. has since changed and have adopted a more positive outlook...I guess my positive energy did rub off on him! LOL!!!!

Thanks Melanie!  Sending SSBD to you and all the lovely ladies who are TTC!!!
