What is unsafe/discouraged - TTC and 2WW

I was just wondering if any of you know what is regarded unsafe during these times?

For example:

2WW:
- No Caffeine (including chocolates)
- Hair dye with no Ammonia is fine
- No hot baths or long showers
- No swimming (prevention of any bacteria etc)
- No heavy lifting
- No cardio exercise

TTC:
Organic shampoo and soap just before ET (if you are doing IVF)
Is hair dye safe?  I have lots of greys LOL!!
Changed some of my home cleaning products to more organic versions

Please share any other tips you have.

Thanks and SSBD to all TTC!

thanks!  Yes, I know they don't work too well but they do minimise the appearance of cellulite! LOL!  I use the Nivea cream and they are affordable and so far so good.

I can't believe what those hormone injections have done to my body!  I am doing lots of cardio and weights to get rid of the excess weight but it takes forever to shed the weight and I NEVER had problems losing weight before! Argh!

Thanks ladies!

In all honesty, I think just about everything is safe before ttc.  Try to just relax (I know, easier said then done, I used to hate it when people said that to me..) and live your life normally, just as healthy as you can.  I am sure the cream is fine, although I have heard the same thing as mamamia about how effective it is.

Good luck!

I hate to be the one to rain on your parade, (and I'm not trying to be negative..) but I've heard that those cellulite creams do not really work. Apparently some of us will get cellulite, while others may not. Even thin, in shape people can have it, and some heavy, overweight people do not. Not sure if it's genes, but I've heard once we get it, we can only minimize the appearance by exercise, weight training, and toning the problem area, but even that doesn't always work.. Sorry, don't mean to be a downer here, but thats just what I have heard. I hope it does work, but as far as your question, I have no idea if its safe while TTC. I know, I was absolutely NO help!!

Anyone knows if Cellulite Cream is safe a month before TTC?  When should I stop?

I know I sound vain but all those hormone injections have caused me to gain weight and to my horror, discovered that I have lots of cellulite now.  So doing lots of weight training, cardio and pilates, to lose 6 kgs but need to get rid of those damn cellulite!

Adgal, thank you for your input. I agree too, everything in moderation. I'm only now beginning to relax a little, and not be over the top about certain things. At first, I eliminated caffeine (coffee AND chocolate) completely, but recently started drinking coffee again, (small amounts), mainly because it helps keep me regular!! LOL! I treat myself to chocolate, I still work out at the gym and play softball, and I'm trying to eliminate stress!
Thanks for posting Futuremama!

Many thanks for the note.  I totally agree with you, everything in moderation.  I used to be over the top too! LOL! and now a little more relaxed...yes, believe it or not.

I worry alot about hair colour and even tried the ammonia free ones but I guess you are right. It's bad enough being pregnant in your 40s, you don't need to be walking around with your greys showing! LOL!

Can't wait until November for my next IVF!

In all honesty while you are ttc and during 2ww you don't need to worry to much.  There is no placenta at that point and so nothing is passed to the baby.  Even during pregnancy, things like moderate amounts of caffeine are considered safe, and lot's of women continue to color their hair (I did).

Now, it's up to you what you choose to do and I would never encourage you to do something you were uncomfortable with.  However, in reality there is almost nothing you can do to harm a healthy pregnancy.  It's of course best not to smoke, drink or use any sort of drug, but other then that as long as you keep things in moderation, try not to worry.

I'll tell you what happened with me.  I spent a few years ttc.  In the beginning I was absolutely over the top about everything.  I conceived easily, but had trouble carrying and miscarried a few times.  As time went on I relaxed more about what I was doing and finally one stuck.  Go figure!  Of course, once you know you are pregnant it becomes very important.

Do what you think is best for you.  The healthier your body, the better chance you have of course.  But try not to worry to much about it...stress during the ttc time is often a factor in preventing conception and is harder on you then just about anything else.

Good luck to you and SSBD!!!!
