My 13yr old girl has ADHD and possible Bi polar. She has days in a row of not getting to sleep at night, sometime up until 3:30 am and has to get up for school. She is experiencing memory loss and cant concentrate. what can i do to help her.what type of expert should she see. She takes a med to help her sleep but it does not work lately.

some doctors are WAY too liberal medicating children, the drugs are stimulants, making sleep hard.
1st I would back the dosages down
2nd I would consult a different psychiatrist & find out if the diagnosis is valid
3rd, i would medicate ONLY when all manors have been tried. I think pharmaceuticals and kids should be a last time resort.

The sleep med builds tolerance.

What medicines and what dosages is she on?
