Can a fetal pole and heartbeat magically appear in the space of one week

I had a scan yesterday at 5 weeks and 3 days .I was told that there was a sac and yolk detected but no fetal pole or heart beat ,The person doing the scan said the sac measured 20.1 mm therefore at that size something should have been detected .I have been rebooked in for another scan for 6 weeks and 3 days is there any chance that something will change and a pole and heartbeat will appear .I am more concerned she said the size regardless of dates should have at least detected a pole but nothing , Is there any hope?

well this is my fourth baby so i no its no easy road and that you get untold stress but its all well worth it
coming into my 11 week now and all is looking good can not believe how quickly time is flying
fingers crossed all stays good,
have my two girls hugging my belly all the time at the mo , trying to tell them its not big enough to feel yet but the fat belly is water retention but they won't have none of it lol

i'm soooo glad everything worked out for you.....and my stepdaughter is just like your's(if i'm understanding right), that i know when she gets around our new baby, she'll be "lil mamma"!  and she's 7, so i know she's going to want to have her hands in it, and have some fun too!

from the information i now know from them i was just a week early
if only they could have said that at the time instead of scaring you half to death
and when they do tell you there so cold its horrible , like hey no big deal and next person in please !!!!
Well spend week feelin scared then found out good news and since then all the sickness has started so not getting any peace at all typical . Toled all my kids today a new addition is coming to the family and there all excited , trying to explain to my 6 yr old that i will be doin the bathing and feeding not her , bless her x

I had my second scan last friday
and all happy , yes there was a heartbeat, i worried myself half to death for nothing
am very happy and my partner took me away for a few days to then him get over the shock of having a new baby
I came on this site for support and have come across many stories of happiness and heartbreak and too all you ladiess out there I feel for you all and pray for good news too you ALL XXXXXXXX

I had a scan at 5 weeks 3 days and we only saw a sac. At 5 weeks 6 days we still didn't see a heartbeat but at 6 weeks 1 day there she was with her heart just pitter pattering away. I'm surprised they would say anything negative to you since in most cases 5 weeks is WAY too early. Best of luck and congrats on your pregnancy!

yes. any US under 6 weeks will prob not show  a fetal pole and heartbeat.  sometimes women might not even see it until the later end og their 6th week.

well it isnt exactly magic, but yes It can happen.  You dont hear tons of stories about this because most of the time you dont get scanned until 7 weeks.  I am actually pretty shocked that they didnt make you wait another 4 days so not only would you see a pole, but a heartbeat.  So I guess, dont freak out if you dont see the h/b next week.  You cant see it until 7+ weeks.  You may want to check out misdiagnosedmiscarriage.com.  I bet you will find tons of info there.  Good Luck!!

of course there's hope...some dr's don't find heartbeats until the baby is 10 weeks.....sometimes the baby won't cooperate, or they just can't find the heartbeat....heck, in pregnancy 3 days can sometimes make a diff lol....baby grows every single day from conception to birth....
