Chance of pregnancy?

Hi there,

I am not completely familiar with ovulation or pregnancy.

My boyfriend and I had unprotected sex yesterday (November 26).
He pulled out before he came but i am completely aware of the risks that come with that.
I started my period on November 18 finished my period on November 22.

I have read forums that say ovulation begins on the first day of you period and that during
ovulation, you are most likely to get pregnant. Also the forums mention that ovulation usually beings 14-16 days from the beginning of your cycle.

My last period was on October 20. i entered it into the ovulation calculator and it said that my ovulation starts on the 28. should i be worried about getting pregnant at this point of my stage because sperm can live up to 5 days?

just take an hpt or go to an ob and have a blood test done. it's the only way to know for sure. everyone can say oh this and that or this or that....they don't know for sure. yes there is always a chance of getting pregnant if you have unprotected sex. when my dh and i started to try for a baby it was only 5-6 days after my af and i got pregnant THAT night. at least according to my ob and the sonograms it says that was the week. so it could've been earlier for all we know.

just take a pregnancy test. if it's negative you're not pregnant. if it's positive you are.

Actually if you're worried, which increases stress, you're less likely to get your period. So don't be worried and don't cause yourself stress.

you should still be worried even if he DIDNT *** inside of you!

If he didn't *** inside you, you're okay. As long as he did not ejaculate before sex you're fine. Your chances are very slim. Don't stress about it. If your period does not come, which is most likely will, take a test.

if im correct, when you had sex you would have been on day 8. sperm can live for up to a week inside the body, so there is a slight chance that you are pregnant, the only thing you can do is to wait till your next period is due and if it doesnt come take a home pregnancy test.

i agree with adgal's advice.

majority of women are not fertile the day after your period.  it is usually 10-14 days from the first day of your last period in which you are more fertile if you have a regular cycle.

So it seems like you should be ok but i would strongly suggest condoms in the future.

Well, there is definatly always a chance whenever you have unprotected sex.  If your cycles are regular, and 28 days (28 days from the 1st day of your period to the 1st day of your next period), you will usually ovulate around day 14.  If your cycles are longer or shorter then that, you can basically assume you probably ovulated about 14 days before the first day of your period.  I hope that makes sense, it can be a bit confusing.  That being said, every woman is a bit different, and we don't all necessarily ovulate the same time.  Your most fertile time is about 2 days before and the day of ovulation.

Ovulation does not start the first day of your period.  You actually only ovulate once a month and are really only fertile for that brief window of a few days before and the day of. If after 24 hours the egg is not fertilized, it will die.  The reason pulling out doesn't work is because 1. its hard to say exactly the day any of us ovulate and 2. Yes, the sperm can live a long time in the female body.

Chances are that you may be ok.  It is unlikely (although not impossible) you ovulated 4 days after your period.  You can take a home pregnancy test 2 weeks after unprotected sex, or the day your period would normally be due.  You obviously know you are playing with fire whenever you have unprotected sex, so please get on some form of birth control.  I hope this info helped, and I sure hope all works out for you.
