Is it possible for me to be pregnant?

I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend but before ejaculation he pulled out and the next day I started my period. I know that even though a guy pulls out there is still a risk of pregnancy. Can you get pregnant if you have unprotected sex the day before your period? And if so, when will I know? When and what signs should I look for? Could there be a chance of me being pregnant even though I started my period the day after?

You are not likely to get pregnant right before your period. I won't say it is impossible, but it IS very highly improbable.

As for what to look for if somehow you were pregnant...about the time your next period is due, if you are pregnant, you would be get a positive result on a home pregnancy test. There are some physical signs, but many of them are so similar to premenstrual symptoms I hesitate to list them as I think it would cause you a lot of undue worry.

Please do yourself as HUGE favor and use condoms. The pull out method is NOT effective as birth control. The fluid that is on the tip of the male's penis has a higher concentration of sperm than his ejaculate and you can easily get pregnant even if he doesn't climax inside you.

Also, condom use will help protect you from sexually transmitted diseases...something a person can pass on without even knowing they have it. STD's can cause everything from discomfort, to infertility to death. Nothing is 100% effective but a condom will really improve your chances.
