Too much stress?

I'm pregnant for the first time, and right now I'm in a difficult situation (the father was abusive, I had to leave and am now hiding out at my parents' house, my parents want me to get an abortion but I want to keep the baby, etc.) which is causing a LOT of stress on me. I know that whatever emotions I have affect my baby as well. But how much? Can it harm my child that I'm so stressed out? What do I do to de-stress? I don't want to do anything that would negatively affect my baby.

your situation now is a lot more positive for your baby than it would have been if you stayed with the father. and i agree with alaysha, for yourself try not to stress during your pregnancy, it can cause you all sorts of physical discomforts on top of the ones that come with pregnancy to begin with. also, i voiced that concern to my doctor during my first pregnancy because i had a lot going on, and she said that it is actually GOOD to get that stress and have a good cry or something sometimes. because what that makes your body do is release these hormones that try to balance you out again and these "feel good" hormones reach your baby too! isnt pregnancy amazing! as for the situation with your parents wanting you to get an abortion, theres nothing you can do to prove them wrong better than being the best and most responsible mother that you can be. show them that you can recover from your mistakes and be the person you were always meant to be even when faced with a situation like this. good luck and try to relax!

It won't cause really any harm to your baby. They can feel all your emotions but being stressed out doesn't really cause any problems until later on because then it can send you into pre-labor. As of right now the baby is small enough that won't cause you to miscarry or get any social/physical problems or anything like that. Like someone told me when I was pregnant (I had A LOT of drama and stress too). Think of the women in Iraq that are pregnant. They are probably dealing with more stress every single day than all of us put together and their babies are fine.
