Weeks to confirm pregnancy or not.

Out of interest if after intercourse, what would be the time period to which you would realise you were not pregnant, i.e. if after you had sex and 5-6 etc. weeks went by could you presume that you were not pregnant.

I ask becase I hear cases of women still having their period but in fact still being pregnant, some clarification would be appreciated, thanks.

Kim is right again, with her latter comment that is. I had sex with a girl almost 9 weeks ago, unprotected that is although I did "pull-out" (not the best I know), it was a heat of the moment thing after drinks.

She said she was on the pill and I've known her for a long time in around about way (through acquaintances) so I do trust her, I just realised that no condom was a big mistake and I've been concerned since. Not wanting to constantly ask her over it I came here to learn more and consider what might be (e.g. a scenario; what if she's not on the pill?)

My "odd questions" approach was to keep the forum section on topic really, rather than delve into the ins and outs, especially since this is a forum on pregnancy. I was just interested to know what sort of time period could be considered a "safe" period.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my queries though, I appreciate it.

Kim is right. You can bleed while pregnant but you can't get a period since you don't ovulate. Also it takes about 10-16 days for a normal person to show positive on a pregnancy test after conception. Basically the way things are timed is when you miss your period you should be able to test positive. So usually around the time your period is due.
