bleeding on pill...can this be a sign of pregnancy?

I was wondering if i may be pregnant. i started a new type of pill, that you take for 28 days and do not have a period as you continue straight onto the next packet. i did as i was instructed and took my first pill on the day i started my period, although my period was really light compared to normal. i have taken the pill for 17 days now and today i started having severe stomach pain and am bleeding heavily, more than i normally do on a period. i read the booklet and it said that light bleeding may occur , but also said if the bleeding is heavy it could mean an etopic pregnancy. i dont think the bleeding could be my next period as my periods before i went on this pill, were on a really long cycle and my last two had an interval of over 50 days between each one, and i have not missed a pill so far.

should i be worried? do i need to do a pregnancy test or go back to my doctor?

the morning after pill can mess up your period.  you should buy a pregnancy test and take one just in case although it sounds like your body has been through a lot lately and is adjusting.

i havent had alot of luck on the pills before the ones that u take for 21 days and have a break, so i came off the pill for a few months and used condoms. about a month ago my boyfriend said he thought the condom had broke, but said he wasnt sure, he just said it felt different and i dont think he wud have said anythin if he wasnt convinced it had broke. so we went the family planning clinic after a few hours, after he got up the courage to talk to me about it lol. i had the morning after pill and thought this could have been why my period was so late and light when i started taking my new pill. could that mean the morning after pill didnt work? or made me have two periods?

i know i must sound really stupid, but i went to a catholic school and didnt have any real contraceptive education.

changing to a different pill can cause mid cycle bleeding.  if it does not stop within the next week, call your doctor.  i know when i switched from the brand to generic of my old birth control pill, i bled for 2 and a half weeks straight, there are different amounts of hormones in each kind.
