missed period and cramps - AM I PREGNANT?

I have missed my period by two days and have not experienced any bleeding at all and no discharge. I have swollen breasts, cramps in my lower back, and my usual abdominal cramping.  I have been taking desogen (apri) birth control for over 2 years and have not yet missed my period for over a day. this is the first it  has not been consistent.  I am sexually active with a steady partner in a monogamous relationship.  I am not ready for a child and need to know if I should seek a morning after pill, take my birth control for next month instead of my placebo pills to try to start my period, or what other options I have. It is too early for a pregnancy test and I do not want to be too late to have to take any other type of action.  PLEASE HELP!

you dont really have any options like that. if youre pregnant your already pregnant. the morning after wouldnt work and is supposed to be taken right after unproteced sex. if you two arnt ready for a baby you should look into using a condom as well. but your on birth control, so i dont really think your chances of getting pg are high, however it can and does happen. and you mentioned taking your pillls next month and skipping the placebo pills...DONT DO IT. i dont kno how many times lately ive seen posts from girls who want to play around with birth control and take whatever color they feel like.....it will only mess with your period more.

looks like you have to take a pregnant test to get your answer.

If you missed your period it would mean that you are already pregnant and like Linzola said the morning after pill wouldn't work. Its not an abortion pill it just prevents the egg from implanting which would of already happened. Best thing to do is take a pregnancy test since it should be accurate by now. If negative and your period still doesn't show up retest. If still negative and it doesn't show up for another week contact your doctor and get a pap and a blood test. Best of luck I hope everything turns out okay for you.

First off I want to welcome you to our community...

If you have already missed your peroid then the morning after pill most likely will not work. That is only operable for 72 hours after intercourse. Also if you skip the placebo pills and go on to a new package is not only unhealthy but also very unmoral. A baby can survive with you taking birthcontrol pills and all that that will mostlikely do is give the baby abnormalities. I would take a pregnancy test and see if this is something that you need to worry about.  They sell the tests at your nearest Dollar Tree or Dollar General for only a buck. Please test and let me know what you find out........
