OMG! OMG! Hubby and the boys were gone all day yesterday. So I had the day to myself.
I went to the grocery store, walmart, the bank, the gas station...by 8pm I was SO tired and sore I took a xanax AND a pain pill and ended up falling alseep in my clothes.

THIS MORNING.....I was still in the same clothes drinking my coffee and hubby said....."you DO know that your shirt is inside out right??"

OMG! The shirt tag isnt on the neckline its on the side of the shirt and its the kind that has the BIG seams........I went to ALL those places yesterday with my shirt inside out!!!!!!!

"...hello funny farm? Yes I like to reserve a room please....Im partial to red so do you have any rubber thats red??????"

I did the wrong direction route last night.....twice. Im getting SO tired of having the same conversation with myself over and over...." what the H is wrong with you??? Have you completely lost your marbles??"..and the sad thing is I usually have this little chat with myself when there are other people around able to HEAR me.

Had my share of "headsmack" moments.  Most memorable (considering my memory these days, it was really something) day was when I saw the holistic MD for the first time.  Get in the car and drive to the dr's office.  Ok, no problem.  Except 15 minutes into the drive, I realize I'm going the completely wrong direction.  Bear in mind that I know where the office is and have been past it several times before.  Turn around and head in the "right" direction.  Get to the dr's office and find out I'd left my purse at home.  No insurance cards, no copay money, no cellphone.  I NEVER forget my purse.  Ack!  Was so upset, I was standing there crying at the reception desk, trying to explain what happened.  Btw, they made a point to put "forgetful" on my chart.

Also have realized there are 2 distinct disadvantages to lists.  The first is remembering to take it with you.  The second is remembering something to put on the list, go to write it down, and then forgetting what it was you wanted to write down in the first place. :P

OH look!  A chicken!

Wanted to tell you about the cordless phone and me.  Was leaving to go to a banquet the other night and walked out of the house talking on it, hung it up when I got into the truck with it and then went to put it in my purse when my little boy cracked up and told me it was the house phone.  It went with us.  Cannot even begin to tell you how many times I have taken the cordless phone and other things to town with us.  But the worst time was a few years ago my son and I were sitting at the Sonic and I was trying to make a phone call and could not figure out why my phone wasn't working.  Dialed the number over and over again and still nothing.  Finally I look up and the car hop walking in front of my van was cracking up and I said "Wonder what she's laughing at?"  And my son said, "Well, Mom, could be cause your trying to use the phone from the house to make a phone call."  Wanna know the REALLY sad part to this story.  I didn't even have a cell phone at the time!  Talk about DUUHHHH!!!!

Been working around the house.  DH got up in a really good mood today and started working on installing my medicine cabinets in bathroom.  I started tearing stuff out and getting br ready to put them up, but dh got up today and was working on it, so I helped him with it all day.  We had a really good time today!

Other than that trying to get my house put back together.  Been a really bad week for lack of sleep.  Aunt Flo wouldn't let me sleep for more than 30 mins at a time all week, so am exhausted.  Have been punchy all week, now am just too tired to hold my head up.  So afraid I am not very funny right now.  Think Monday I will sleep all day!

Tea' Leoni said that before she had her baby no one warned her that when the baby came out it sucked half your brain out with it!  Thyroid takes the remaining half!

I hear ya.  It's not so much brain fog as "brain clutter".  I think I'll limit my husband to one pug, at least for the time being.

Very encouraging!!  Thank you for sharing that.  I'm not too bad, and I really think a lot of mine has to do with too much stuff crammed in my head.  I'm a single mom working full time, two teenage boys, three dogs, etc.  Just trying to keep up with everything is a struggle sometimes, yet alone trying to squeeze in anything "extra".
Thanks again, Jo!!

BTW. Since my thyroid issues I have been contacted by a number of people that I work with who have had thyroid cancer or other disorders resulting on them being on synthroid, some since childhood. None of them exhibit obvious signs of brain fog, but did mention that they get very tired sometimes. I was so surprised to be contacted by one person who is a very brilliant veterinarian who had TT for thyroid cancer when he was 27 (I'd guess he's close to 40 now). He is someone I truly admire and it was very encouraging to see that it is possible to not only be functional on synthroid, but to really excel. So there is hope.

The sorts of events that you all have described happen to me all the time and have had for years (I put the cheese away in the silverware drawer once and threw my makeup bag in the trash instead of in the drawer). If the thyroid thing makes that sort of thing worse, then I'm going to be a total vegetable! On the other hand, it's possible that nobody will notice since it's the norm for me. At least now I'll have an excuse.

Lori ~ the good news is that the older you get, the more people accept the strange behavior and you go from being "early Alzheimer's" to "charmingly eccentric" in their eyes. At least that's how I prefer to view it. My employees are used to having to tell me who they are and what exactly it is that they do every time they come talk to me. They do roll their eyes a lot, though. Hmmm.......

Cheryl ~ I haven't wrecked the car yet, but I know someone who wrecked both of their cars by running into one with the other while following her husband too closely during a snowstorm. He was not amused, nor was their insurance company.

Dart frog ~ My mom used to call me Daisy. That was our Bassett Hound's name (the dog came after the guinea pig, see pug posting for details). I got over it.....eventually.

That reminds me of a story with my friend.

She had $125 worth of antibiotic from pharmacy in her hand .. put the bag on the roof for a min. to buckle her son in his carseat and then drove off and forgot the meds were on the roof!

Went back and, naturally, crushed by another car.

Insurance said too bad and she had to pay out of pocket for replacement meds.

I will never forget that story or the one when my 16yr old was an infant, I backed out of the garage in brand new car (only a few mos. old) and the rear door was still open and took the door off the hinges!!!!  I will """""never""""" forget the sound of the metal against the cement and the AH DOY moment of my life.

Have a kid ... you get the Ah Doy moments LOL!!!!

Guess it's you and me in the rubber room together.  I can see it now..... "What are you in here for, ladies?".  "Ummmm.............putting tp in the frig".  Then on to dart frog's room.  "Ma'am, what are YOU in for?"  "Taking the cordless phone with me to the store, then not being able to pay for my carload of groceries."  Oh, the rooms could go on and on.  But boy, would we have a good time, or what?!?!  Recess!!

I hear you on the bill thing too.  I used to be SO good about that too.  I've had to pay more late fees than I can count.  I sure hope someone replies that it gets better!!

Okay, seriously, I thought I was the only one who put tp in the refrigerator!  Went to go shopping today, got to the first town 10 miles away, pulled into the drive thru at the bank to make deposit and yep, you guessed it, no bill fold.  So Mom and I had to run back home to get it.  Bought a whole bunch of tile at lowe's today for my bathroom, just looked at it, and discovered it's not all the same.  Oh, did I mention I went through them one at a time to make sure they weren't chipped b/c they were on clearance?!  DUH!!

Thought the bill thing was only me.   We have always had perfect credit until I got sick.  Then if I did remember to pay the bills it was just too much for me to face.  Anybody else done that?  Had to turn it over to my husband for a long time until he ran us in the whole.  And you know, I still have trouble remembering to pay the bills.  Most of them are on autopay, but the ones that aren't just about do me in.  Don't put off paying them any more, just still can't remember to.  Bluck!

Anybody for enough on the road to healing to tell me if the memory ever comes back?  Am working on things to try and improve it, but seems like it is still a daily struggle.  Didn't mean to be a downer.  Am really tired tonight!

One of the giggest changes in me since this whole thyroid stuff started is I used to be really on top on budgeting and paying my bills on time.  I used to drive my ex-husband crazy with making sure he told me anytime he spent money even if it was just for gas. I would make a budget for 2 -3 months.  Now I have as many bills autopay and can't remember the last time I even tried to balance my checkbook.  Lucky for me I make enough money to have a little cushion in my checking account.  I think my behavior change is because after having cancer, being late on a bill is not the end of the world and just plain old brain fog and not having the ability to focus like I used to.  I consider myself a half way intelligent person, but sometimes I just get so spacy and I realize I'm being spacy but can't do anything about it.  I really, really need to make a plaque for my office that says "The National Weather Service has issued a severe brain fog alert for my brain.....please excuse my behaviour!"  (BTW...not my saying, someone else on the board came up with it, but brain fog is preventing me from remembering).

Don't feel bad. I've been having quite a few DUH! moments lately as well.

Bad memory, difficulty thinking clearly by times, can't spell, can't capitalize, can't punctuate, can't spit out the right word, etc.

i'm 51, so I am blaming it on oldztimer's. ;-)

The worst part is I can't remember three items if I'm going to buy stuff, or try to organize my day, so I make lots of lists. Then I lose the lists.
