Goodness know cause I hate to feel sped up. I am now on 125mcg instead of 88mcg that would not bring my lvls up where suppose to be. So with me feeling like speeding me up also feel that making my medicine go out of my system but I am not for sure. I just want to be healthy again and feel good. I have been dealing with this for yr now. I am 29 yrs old and I do have a weight problem also but I have never in my life been this big makes me feel so uncomfortable to do any thing. Also sorry keep asking this I feel so new to this stuff. My monthly cycle is a mess not had one few months and I am not pregnant when I do have one very small maybe 2 days and light could my thyorid be causing this also. Any info or advise given thank you so much....
God bless all of you

You should not feel "speeded up" in the morning after you take your levothyroxine.  Once it gets into your system it remains pretty steady, so once the level is built up and maintained, you should not feel a big difference with just your daily dose.  Are you sure you aren't taking something else that's making you feel "speeded up"?

I'm like you and was really scared to take it .. my doc started out really low @ 25mcgs and I actually split the dose and then took the whole one once I saw it was ok .. today I maintain on 75mcgs @ TSH 1.8

It's normal sometimes to feel this way .... don't worry --- see if your doc will let you intro slowly.

WELCOME!!!

The average dose of prescribed levothyroxine is between 100 mcg (0.1 mg) and 125 mcg

So with yours being 80 mcg it seems that your doctor is starting you out slowly. Then based on how it affects you he/she will adjust up if needed.

Why were you given levothyroxine? and what dose?  I mean..the doctors give you the meds to level out your thyroid levels...so..the meds should help you not scare you. The only thing I can suggest is to take the perscription as order by your doctor. if it affects you in a way that you do not like then ask the doctor if there is another med that you can take.

What is levothyroxine?
Levothyroxine is a replacement for a hormone that is normally produced by your thyroid gland to regulate the body's energy and metabolism. Levothyroxine is given when the thyroid does not produce enough of this hormone on its own.

Levothyroxine treats hypothyroidism (low thyroid hormone). Levothyroxine is also used to treat or prevent goiter (enlarged thyroid gland), which can be caused by hormone imbalances, radiation treatment, surgery, or cancer.

Levothyroxine should not be used to treat obesity or weight problems.

Levothyroxine may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.
