Thyroid nodule?

I am going to an endocrinologist on Tuesday.

Another endo (they sent me to wrong office last week) said he felt a nodule on the left side. I had a benign nodule removed from my right side in '83.

I am going to his other partner that takes our Cigna Insurance and previous endo said that I will probably have a thyroid scan and then possibly a Needle Biopsy.  Have they improved since the 80's?  It felt like they were sucking my throat out of my body.

My TSH level is 8.96 and now have glucose level of 113 which I never had before.

Yesterday at a family gathering my brother claims he noticed a lump  just sitting across the table from me.  He is an ER doc though.  He said TSH level is not bad until it reaches the 40' or so.

Very hard time swallowing and it is starting to hurt, but it may be because I am constantly trying to clear my throat.

Thanking you in advance for any advice.

Mary Ann

I think the biopsy method has improved since the 80s. To me, it just felt odd and unpleasant, but not especially painful. You will do fine!

rest assured that the FNA procedure has improved. I found it only slightly uncomfortable and the doctor did six punctures. I felt only pressure with the first couple and only slight discomfort with the others. and it was fast. so all in all not bad at all.
