18 mo. old w/ abnormal cbc

My 18 month old son "Lucas" was diagnosed with graves disease at the ripe age of twelve monthes.
He has a cbc done often this time his resultes state that the  PLATLETS are low 136, the NEUTRPHILS part of SL are low 18.7, the LYMPHOCYTES part of SL are high 72.2, and the ABS NEUTROPHILS are low 1.61. I would like to know if this is cause for concern and weather I am jumping the gun to want a Hemotologist to take a look. He is and has been taking propylthiroucil for about 7 months now and he has started to bruise very easily and has had a lowgrade consistant fevar for about two weeks also has had a very scratchy throat for 5 days.

Thank you and I will do so, I was happy just to find this site where there seem's to be an abundance of people just like me/my son. just putting it out there for other people to see and getting there input is very helpful. My husband says I worry too much; but we are speaking of an infant who cannot tell me how he feels and I believe it is up to me to make sure that he gets the best treatment possible.  I really appriciate it.

The serum protein electrophoresis test measures specific proteins in the blood to help identify some diseases, gives alot of general information.  Hope you find out what is going on. The TSH is ok, hope he starts to feel much better with his "new thyroid#. If you feel he isn't right don't stop , a geneticist is also a good idea. Keep looking to the Ped Endo expert forum, and if possible try to post there, The Dr. hasn't been answering since January, that happened before (to much work, busy???), but when she's back try to post.

He has had an ultrasound done of the thyroid that showed the goiter, past that no other tests for this paticular disease have been done. We are however going to a genetisist soon for other testing, would this (Serum Protien Electropherosis) fall to them or is it a generalized test for the thyroid disfunction. Their are some other health concerns, This is a medicaly complex child who see's ( Endocrine, immunology, ent, gastroenterology, cardiology, neurology, orthapedics,an intensivist,  gen. phy., also see's physical, occupational, speech theropy and a developmentalist.  He has a lot of people on board trying to find out what is going on but I am afraid with so much that something serious is going to be missed,

His thyroid .... T3-total was 253.5 ,  T3 uptake was35.2, T4-total was 4.9, TSH was1.750
with these numbers I am afraid that since this is the first sign in 7 moths that the TSH level is wher they want it, this may be a catch 22 the meds may be causing the platlet and nutrophil problem, which in turn can cause the blood disorder/disease (agranulocytosis) but will be over looked since it is the first time the thyroid has been under control. I showed concern when speaking to endo, but was kind of brushed off. I want to know if it would be advisable to get a second opinion or to see if one of the other doctors will check into it and which one is better suited for this type of problem.
I don't want to step on toes.
He also did not have any infection that we could see, first time in forever.
Thank you so much for your input it helps put things into perspective.

The antibodies for Grave's are TSI antibodies, also the others can be positive, but usually Grave's is the cause of hyperthyroidism (autoimmune) , unless he has a hyperfunction nodule. Have he done a Serum Protein Electrophoresis? ultrasound?
A decrease in blood platelets (thrombocytopenia) also may occur with the treatment, also side affects that are described is Agranulocytosis (his requires a bone marrow examination), that could be the cause of low NEUTROPHILS and fever, so I recommend you to talk to your child doctor (Ped/ENDO).

Also a viral infection can be responsible for some of abnormal lab values.

I was reading onother post and this test was mentiond, How do I know if the Doctor did this test on my son? Do I just blaitently ask? I think I would remember having such a conversation and I do not recall ever hearing the term Graves Antibody Test. My son does not build antibodies to simple immunizations so I am particularly attentive when they talk about his blood tests and immune system.
