80 is kind of high, but normal for some. Maybe it will drop and / stabilize once your meds level out. The thing is, it should not very by much when resting at the same time of day. You might want to keep track of it hourly for a few days keeping in mind when you take your meds. Make sure to take your pulse when you get palps.
I would switch to compounded dessicated. My daughter (no thyroid gland) was on Armour and had been doing great! (blood work and symptoms) Then we refilled and got the new formulation (same dose and pharmacy). T4 dropped and joint and body aches with fatigue suddenly! (within a week) Switched her to Nature-Throid, 2 months ago, and she is doing much better. Takes a while for Hypo.symptoms to deminish. She's also on 1 grain more of the Naturethroid,as the conversion chart seemed too modest. (upped slowly, by1/2 grain, twice, to deminish symptoms). Her blood looks better now, t4 back up and joint pains almost completely gone! However, if you decide to switch off the Armour, as many have done due to the reformulation, there is a production issue with the Naturethroid (supply& demand). It is hard to find at pharmacies right now. I would not join the stressful hunt! Instead just have it compounded until the Naturethroid is available again in November, hopefully!
pulse has been like 80/70/ just strong bp has been good 120/80
You may have a point there in regards to the new Armour.
You describe a strong heart beat and pulse. Is your pulse fast? Or Is the rate normal, but feels hard - heart palps. What exactly is your resting pulse beats / min?
Some people have palps when building up the dose to fast. I sometimes still have very slight palps after switching to Armour 5 months ago. Seems like more people were getting palps after the Armour re-formulation. I am now taking a different brand dessicated med (3 weeks so far), so I will see if the palps go away. If it does, (cross fingers), I know it was from the Armour re-formulation.
thanks. will do(.post everything Tue. ) find out Tue. i lost 15 pounds. but i've been sticking to a strict diet and i exercise dailey. 11 miles on a bike. and or 25 min run on treadmile.. plus lifting weights, all that. so i've been putting in the work. not just from thyroid meds. you might be right maybey need a slight reduction. also . worked up to this dose. from 90 (1 month )to (120 1 month )150 (3 weeks_d to 180 3 weeks now. at . thanks Kevin
Prolonged too fast heartrate can cause muscle weakness in the valves of the heart....keep an eye on it and do as Stella and Gimel says.
This is one reason why people like me (heart issues) cannot take natural thyroid hormone or Cytomel as it causes too many issues with the heart.
I agree - that is a high dose even for someone without a thyroid to start on.
Kevin, 15 pounds in 4 weeks is pretty fast. With that and your mention of the pulsing heart, you may need to consider cutting back a bit on your 180 mg of Armour, which is a pretty hefty dose. You'll be able to evaluate better after getting your FT3 and FT4, and other tests done on Tues. Please post those results, and reference ranges, if you'd like more input from members.
