You shoudl ask your Gynocologist because they will no more. However
TSH of 6.5 is not very high, so doesn't indicate being seriously hypothyroid.
The dose she is taking 25mg is small.
Thyroid hormone lasts a fairly long time in the blood (~week). So going off meds doesn't mean that levels immediately drop. Because she's not very hypothyroid (thyroid is still producing hormones), the level probably didn't drop by much.
PS: I think having higher TSH early in pregnancy is fairly common. Pregnancy increases metabolism a _lot_ and thyroid hormones are one of the major/primary hormones that regulates metabolism.
Thank you so much for your reply
She is taking levothyroxine 25mcg Tab. When she come to know that she is pregnant then she stopped the medicine and she thought to take this medicine after discussing with Gynocologist. We got the appointment after 10 days and doctor suggested to take the medicine and suggested to do the test once again. We did the test once again and waiting for result.
We did not tested T3 and T4. Doctor suggested to test only TSH.
We are afraid has this already done any damage for this 10 days absence...?
What medicine was she taking and why did she stop it? If the medication was thyroid replacement hormones, she should not have stopped taking it without her doctor's approval.
What other thyroid tests are being done, other than TSH? She needs also, to have Free T3 and Free T4, which are the actual thyroid hormones.
Adequate thyroid hormones are essential for the growth and development of a fetus. For the first trimester the fetus relies on mom's thyroid hormones, but hopefully, your wife had enough of the actual hormones to sustain the fetus.
If your wife has had testing for Free T3 and Free T4, please post results, with reference ranges for those. If she hasn't had testing for them, you should insist that she do so (you'll have to convince the doctor to order them). These levels need to be tested monthly throughout the pregnancy, both for the sake of your wife and the baby.
I'd want to get those tests done, but I don't think I'd worry too much, at this point, as long as your wife continues to take the med...
Relax and enjoy the pregnancy; look forward to your baby and keep us posted on the progress..
