Thank you for your referrals. Dr. Menendez was also referred by others and I just remembered that he treated my Graves over 25 yrs ago- so I will try him.

Dr. Carlos Menendez is fairly easy to get into and he treats both FT3 and FT4 levels, not TSH. He also treats symptoms. 692-7684

He will prescribe Armour upon request, but he's a much bigger fan of name brand only Synthroid and Cytomel, so if you are looking for a doctor who is big into dessicated, then he may not be the one. I have had a hard time finding a good thyroid doc (interviewed six in SA) who will actually treat the FT3 levels. Shame. Many here rely on TSH, a pituitary hormone.

I see two doctors for my Hashimoto's. I also see Dr. Charles Webb and his wonderful team of doctors at Imagine Wellness Center. 798-9322

I go to Dr. Webb because most endos will only treat the levels, but Dr. Webb goes way beyond and treats the underlying cause and detoxifies the gut and treats the ENTIRE body. Adrenals included. I've found out  from him that several of my neurotransmitters are out of wack and I'm on natural herbals to stimulate those, such as my serotonin levels. Also, he tests and treats for TH1/TH2 dominance. Many Hashimoto's patients don't know if they are TH1/2 dominant and so they accidentally consume foods that stimulate those pathways, creating more antibody attacks. Also, 90 percent of hypothyroidism patients in this country are due to Hashimoto's. So why do most endos treat us like hypothyroid patients and ignore the underlying auto-immune disease? Do we tell the Lupus patient she's got a low kidney and heart problem? No. So why is the Hashi patient told she's got low thyroid function. We've got WAY more than that going on. Dr. Webb addresses ALL of it.

Read my journal. See how healthy I feel.

If any of you from SA have any questions, please go to my profile and message me.

hello! my name is Michelle and I am in san antonio. I am currently being treated for hypo, and see Dr. Jaime Cruz. He is located downtown and I think he may be accepting new patients at this time. He is a very nice Dr. and would recommend him, However he does get pretty busy, so Im not sure how long it would take to actually get an appt with him.
