Any info on TAAT

Hi,

I've been struggling with some kind of neuroendocrine issue for a long time.  My tsh and t4 are always within normal range so it's been hard to get the right diagnosis.  i started seeing an alternative/complimentary med doc.  i have low thyroid syndrome that he's correcting with compounded t3.  my body temperature is normal again.  for nearly 10 years it has been under 98.  i feel a little better but my brain still feels broken.  judging from the tests he's given me (i see him this week to definitively find out what's wrong, but judging from the requested testing and investigating it looks like he's on the right track as far as testing my neurotransmitters.  the therapy is called Targeted Amino Acid Therapy or TAAT.  it looks to me like people that have had undiagnosed thyroid problems for a long time also have this brain problem.  has anyone in this forum experienced this as well and has anyone received taat.

I am going on the experience of my own health issues plus online research.
I haven't had neurotransmitter testing. I'm not even sure if it's done here in Australia. My serotonin deficiency symptoms improved with vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 deficiency leads to decreased production and function of serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine.

Vegetables high in vitamin C:

Red and green hot chili peppers
Guavas
Bell peppers
Parsley and thyme
Dark green leafy vegetables such as garden cress, kale, mustard greens, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, broccoli

Fruits high in vitamin C:

Kiwi fruits
Papayas
Clementines
Oranges and strawberries

hi rs,

my b12 is high.  greater than 1999 pg/mL.  i take 5000 mcg/day.  the doc said that i should continue taking it.  i really have to transcribe the recording so i can say exactly why for everything.

do you work with a health pro or maybe you are 1.  how did you know about your def in b12 resulting in serotonin def?  have you had your neurotrans tested?  i would love to hear another person's results.  i trust my doc and i believe that my results are some of the worse he's seen but just to verify that info i would want to see sum1 else's.  he used a sanesco lab for the tests however he doesn't follow their model of AA therapy.

i never felt suicidal.  in fact i never really felt sad either.  i didn't feel anything and nothing made sense to me.  it is so hard to explain.  it was like the world was surreal.  what was coming in thru my sight was only getting so far in my brain.  i could feel it hitting a wall in my head and i would try so hard to dig deeper to the normal thoughts or normal feelings but i couldn't.  i just knew my brain was hosed.  it was behaving backwards almost.  an obvious sign was i would hear the word "bravo" as brava.  this was all the time and i can remember the day it started.  weird but true.  i'm so glad that i finally had a physical symptom so that doc's took me seriously already.  my face was clearly paralyzed on one side and i was afraid.  it all worked out for the best and in reality the paralysis was good.  the verdict is still out on the TAAT therapy and the hormone implants but so far so good.  i feel better than i have in 7 years so far with thyroid hormone therapy and the beginning of the TAAT.   the doc said i would feel better fairly quickly because of my high igf-1 (i think) but we'll see.  i'm not that trusting and i need long term results.

here's a problem you may be able to help me with.  vitamin c.  i have none.  i have to take it but every x i do i get sick with flu like symptoms.  i hate it.  it makes me feel terrible.  doc said try ester c.  i'll try it but if you have some experience please let me know.  i think i'd rather do iv every 6 weeks.  i'll c how $ & figure it out but i hate hate vitamin c and i don't like citrus juice or fruits.  they make me gag.  let me know.

My reason for severe serotonin deficiency was severe vitamin B12 deficiency. Those suicidal thoughts...nasty deficiency state! If you aren't taking vitamin B12 I highly recommend it! Sublingual form (I prefer the spray).

The measurements are micrograms (of whatever neurotransmitter you are testing) per gram of creatinine (cr).

i had my doc visit yesterday.  the 1st item he said was bad bad were my neurotransmitters.  i'll give my levels vs optimal if ne1 wants.  he started the TAAT with using neuroscience travacor.  i visited their website for a brief description and its used to increase seratonin.  that would make sense.  my serotonin is 88.3.  optimal range for serotonin is 200 - 415 mcg/ g Cr (idk what Cr means).  the other supp he gave me is kavinace and this is 4 gaba support.  also makes sense bc i don't sleep 7.5 hrs nemore - i sleep 6 and this *****.  i took these supps last night and slept 6 hrs.  he said i had one of the worse neurotransmitter problems that he's seen in 3 or 4 years and i'm in the top 10 of worse in his career.  great.  like i needed to know that.  the only thing that saves my brain is that it's balanced itself but in the wrong direction.  or something like that.  i recorded the visit and am going to transcribe later in the week or next week.

next my testosterone hormone is that of "whale ****" according to him.  it's why i don't have ne motivation.  fyi:  when i 1st starting seeing docs about this problem it was my lack of motivation and focus that prompted me to see my gp.  that was the 1st x i was diagnosed with depression.  i'm glad i knew my body well enough to know that this was not depression but some kind of brain wiring malfunction.  at the x i described it that way bc i didn't know neurotransmitter deficiency and excess could cross wires so to say.   the next hormone wreaking havoc is estrogen.  i have too much or estrogen or estrogen dominance and the ripple effect of all these deficits and excesses is causing much more imbalances.  the only reason i don't feel worse is bc my igf-1 is super duper high....i got a b+ for this and he called me a "lucky *****".  my igf-1 is 241.

i have other lows such as vita c.  i don't like citrus and when i've taken c in the past it gives me a cold or aches like a flu.  he suggested ester c.  i'll try it.

as i said i recorded the visit and will transcribe it.  i want to know more about the relationships to certain common diseases that my defs, exces and imbal cause.  it was an hour visit and a lot of info was covered.

in conclusion, i am getting hormone pellet implants of testosterone and am going to take progresterone.  he prescribed prometrium but when i took the script to pharmacy my ins wants precert of preauth from the doc b4 it can b filled.  i get the implants in my butt on 8/20 1pm.  he said i'll b feeling good, better than i have in 10 years, 6 weeks after implants however it will take a year of supps to fix my brain.  he said that even tho i will b feeling great i need to continue the supps or my brain problem with come back.  he said that after i finish a year he thinks i won't have to take them nemore but i will always have to have the implants every 3 to 4 months.  i chose implants.  i've used prescribed creams and pills and they don't work so well for me.

if any1 has ne questions please feel free

Oxytoxin rises when you hug someone, hold hands, say the love word, give a gift, share a meal, have a massage, use social media, sing, soak in the hot tub, get intimate, pat your cat/dog, listen to relaxing music, watch an emotionally compelling movie, during and after childbirth, breastfeeding... I wouldn't pay for oxytocin therapy. :)

Maybe you could try taking half the T3 dosage everyday?

hey rs,

that site is great.  i just read the acetylcholine symptoms.  i didn't have to read any further.  i have a lot of them and dopamine as well.  i don't want to speak too soon but i really think this is my answer.  it'll b such a relief to start my normal life again.

just and comment on my low t3 syndrome or low body temp syn whatev any 1 wants 2 call it.  i took c-thyroid time release for a month.  the first 10 days or so were great then down hill.  my motivation got more than usual worse and i was tired more than usual.  i didn't take it yesterday and felt good.  i didn't take it 2day and i'm not feeling so well.  i wonder if stopping it that way is right.  2day is my doc visit.  i'll ask.

thanks for the website.  i bookm'd it.  what do you think of oxytocin therapy?

I've have dopamine deficiency symptoms for as long as I can remember. More recently I found out why I rarely yawn - dopamine deficiency symptom. Should of known! No motivation and being unorganised (I was voted most unorganised at school lol) are two of the numerous symptoms of dopamine deficiency. Symptoms have improved to some degree after correcting numerous deficiency states, taking thyroxine, and exercising. Not sure if there are any genetic issues (my father has Parkinson's disease which is depleted dopamine).

I read that website you posted but they don't list the specific symptoms for each neurotransmitter. If you are interested in specific neurotransmitter symptom check out: Nutritional Healing - Neurotransmitter Deficiency and Excess Symptoms. That isn't a complete list of symptoms or causes though but a pretty good list.

hi red star,

i haven't been recommended any yet.  i did take l-tyrosine and 5-htp on my own for a few months about 2 years ago without real big success.  from the continued research i've been doing on TAAT it's a holistic therapy.  i found this website informative.  http://www.holistichelp.net/neurotransmitters.html - for explaining neurotransmitter deficiency symptoms and how typically this AA deficiency overlaps with thyroid, adrenal & hormone imbalances.  in order for the AA supplements to work they have to be combined with specific vitamins - as far as this website says (i stopped looking so hard when i found this website.  i have thyroid, adrenal and hormonal imbalances that have already been detected in blood and saliva tests so this information made perfect sense to me).  i think that's why when i did take the tyro and htp they had very little effect.

i see the doc 2moro.  yay!  on my 1st visit w/ him he concluded the exam with saying he thinks i'll respond well to the treatment.  i am otherwise very healthy and i believe him.  the compounded t3 he prescribed worked in a few weeks.  i still have problems but i feel that logic returned to my brain by taking this medication.  i know logic has returned.  i can tell by the way i am able to organize info in my head now.  the way my thoughts flow and the thoughts i'm having feel normal to me again.  my brain is able to drill down the way it used to.  it shows in my writing as well.  when i wrote b4 my thoughts were all over the page, missing words and without any flow.  it's easier for me to write and organize in my head.  it's hard for me to explain my broken brain and there is more going on then just my brain.  i have no motivation and anxiety that i can't control.  it's like having clostrophobia? all the time.

i'm going to keep this thread updated on my progress.  i hope this therapy works and so far i have no reason to believe it won't.  i'll know if it works just by being able to keep this thread updated.  if you don't hear from me again it didn't work and i can't remember to update.  if it works you'll see me updating.  that's a good and simple way to measure progress.

What amino acids are you taking? I am going to order the amino acid L-tyrosine which is the precusor to dopamine...eventually. I've been saying this for the past year - I have a black belt in procrastination (one of my symptom of dopamine deficiency lol).
