My husband and I are considering a move to London, but I'm really concerned about finding a doctor that will test Free T3/Free T4, prescribe Cytomel, take my symptoms into account and ignore TSH.
At six months since starting medicine for Hashi/Hypo, we moved to London. At the time, I was taking T4 only. On my first visit/labs they reduced my T4 dose based exclusively on TSH which was in range (.8), but they wanted my TSH over 1. I had stockpiled Levoxyl in the US before going and we happened to leave the UK before I ran out which was good since I also had no options as to what brand of T4 to take and they can give you a different brand each time you get your script filled.
We moved back to the US and I have since been put on Cytomel 10 in addition to Tirosint. I've now been taking Cytomel for a year. However, on both, my TSH below range, but when my T4 meds have been reduced from 100 to 88, my TSH was still below range and my Free T3 and Free T4 went to the bottom of the range so my doctor has put me back on Tirosint 100 and left Cytomel 10 the same. He's waiting for my TSH to go up, but I know that it wont and I still have exclusively hypo symptoms like constipation and cold feet. I don't have any Hyper symptoms.
I have not been symptom free since going Hypo because initially (for three years) I was given T4 medicine only despite my T3 being below range. I need both T4 and T3 and need to find a doctor that will give me both, test my FT3/Ft4 and consider my symptoms.
If you have a doctor or UK website (similar to this) you can recommend, please send me a message. At this point I'm afraid to move to London and think my health will suffer there. I also need to find out if I can get Tirosint there, but I don't mind which T3 brand I can get, if I can get it?
Thank you for any information or advice.
