Anyone on here have experience with Addison's. Am kinda freaking out!

DLA
Been reading the medical websites on Addison's and trying to put some of it together, but would like some personal info on it.  Have not gone into any personal web sites, I learned my lesson on that with Graves' Disease!

Am not handling the possibility of having it real well today.  Think it's just b/c I was all set to get better and now, if my endo is right about her suspicion, I'm starting a new battle.  Don't feel like I have it in me right now to go another battle like this.

Any info good or bad will be appreciated.  I just need info to know what I'm dealing with.

Thank you.
Dac

No, I haven't had an echo.  If the cortrosyn tests come back negative will go from there.  Am to the point now would just like to take it have it be the problem and get it treated so I could feel better.

I always get to this point, but usually it only takes me a matter of hours, but have been going through bigger rounds of depression which I think are mainly linked to exhaustion.  As I said besides trying to take care of my own house (which looks like cr@p right now) and all of the watering of flowers and such in my yard, my mom and dad are gone on extended vacation so am doing all of their yard work, taking care of their pool, taking care of garden alone, and taking care of our church alone.  So I am going nonstop from 6:15am until 10:00pm at least and then I still have to get a shower and such.  A couple of evenings the past 2 weeks I have fallen asleep as soon as son is in bed, about 8:15, just sitting down trying to go through the mail I'm behind on.  Don't move until next morning.

Am so tired most of the time I feel as if I can't take a step and will just sit down and cry.  That's probably why I need extra salt!  =+)

Anyway, I had a lot of sleep last night, an easier day today (I deligated jobs) and am getting ready to go to bed and get another good nights sleep.  So all is looking much better.  Now I just want a course of action to get started on.

Thank you for caring and all that wonderful insight you always have.

The reason I mentioned it was that the  cardiologist told me to eat salty things when I started to get lighthheaded.

"dizziness, feeling faint upon standing, very weak, constant fatigue no matter how much sleep, no appetite, nausea, and even though I am working hard in the yard and at home everyday seem to be getting winded more easily every day.  Oh, and I also crave salt like nobody's business and have muscle spasms. "

I share most of those feelings.  Have you had an echocardiogram ? If your test comes back negative
( have you completed the cortrosyn test yet?) and your symptoms continue (things like dizziness on standing and shortness of breath) you may want to have a cardiology consult, if you haven't already.

That suggestion is not meant to worry you, just a thought to check it out.

I know what you mean about searching for info, I do it too, but if you start to get upset a computer break can be helpful.

I am hoping for a negative test result and that all is well with you.

I dont like being on it and i think it does cause swelling but endo does not agree and the intern doc does agree. I take xanax and it makes me hungry other than that i never have a appetite. Sometimes i wonder if i would feel better without it but i dont want my BP to start dropping again because i was so sick for so long.

Well, sure 'nough!  Sorry, I skipped over posting that to you a while ago!  Got caught up in your second post and forgot about posting to the first one. =}{

Ues, it is the same thing.  So no big deal to you, huh?  The testing doesn't sound that bad, doesn't sound that good, either. ;)  Have been through a lot worse.

Was TERRIFIED when I heard cortisone was the treatment!  Was scared about how much more weight it would make me gain.  As it is right now I have no appetite.  I do get to feeling hungry sometimes, but literally a few bites and I am stuffed.  The only thing not eating was doing to me was making me more tired, so now I force myself to eat more, but it is soooo hard.  But given all this I am STILL not losing weight.  Just don't get it.

How does the hydro cortisone affect you?  Any swelling or anything.  Nyxie told me last night that there is a bio-identical replacement for it.  Wouldn't that be better?

As I said am not even sure I have it, just want to have as much info as possible going into this.  I want to be armed and dangerous!

Isn't Addisons pretty much adrenal insuff.? If so it isn't hard to treat but with thyroid problems it makes it worse till u are treated. Yes I agree I have put it all in Gods hands to. I went 5 mo before they detected the adrenal.

Thank you so VERY much for all your support and prayers.

Am doing A LOT better today.  Had to go clean the church yesterday by myself, and when I'm there alone I always spend the quiet time in silent prayer and singing out loud, of course, rejoiceful hymns.  Yesterday I took my son's little CD player and cranked up The Best of The Cathedrals and sung my heart out, cried, prayed, and sang some more.  Didn't get finished with it so had to go back last night and finish it.  It was getting dark and it was so quiet and peaceful and I spent a lot of time with just me and God.   This went on all evening in the rest of my work at home.  A lot of crying and praying.  And some where around 1:00am I had such a calmness and peace come over me and from that point I have been fine.  Found my smile and sense of humor again today.  Yesterday it was pretty much faked, not today.

Have done the research on Addison's b/c I'm one of those people who have to be informed good or bad.  Can not deal with the not knowing, am able to face it better if I have more knowledge.  I do fit a lot of the symptoms at this point, but as we all know we fit the symptoms of a lot of diseases just by having thyroid problems.  Apparently some of my previous blood work gave her the suspicion of Addison's and then I called to ask her about the adrenal fatigue and when I described my symptoms to her, dizziness, feeling faint upon standing, very weak, constant fatigue no matter how much sleep, no appetite, nausea, and even though I am working hard in the yard and at home everyday seem to be getting winded more easily every day.  Oh, and I also crave salt like nobody's business and have muscle spasms.

I try not to eat a lot of salt b/c of the bp problems in the past and with my weight I don't figure it to be a good thing.  So have been having horrible, I mean horrible problems with concentration and such.  Could not even put a full sentence together.  To type a four sentence paragraph on here would take almost half an hour, couldn't even remember where the keys were without looking and searching.   Then I talked to my aunt a couple of nights ago and she was talking about the low sodium and started asking the symptoms of that and that seemed to be it.  So I sat down and ate some rock salt, it tasted soooooo good, and within a half hour the migraine, confusion and muscle pain was gone.

Other than exhaustion and anxiety have been fine since then, and now the anxiety is gone.  Have put it in God's hands and will let him see me through whatever may come.

You are such a wonderful and amazing group of people and I thank God for sending me to find all of you.  God go with all of you.

Love,
Dac

Yes I agree, MEDITATION does work, I have a little book on mind over matter and tried it out, it will help put you to sleep at night and also reading the bible and praying helps you get good rest. In the beginning I was always worried and sicker, but since I started reading at night and watching all my favorite church programs on TV it has helped. If you have satelite tune into Kennith and Gloria Copeland everday or watch them on the internet on healing services they are such a help and very annointed, also I like watching Joice Meyer she is great to. There is power in praying to relax you, trust me. Jesus is the same yesturday, today and forever AMEN........

I did some research on Addison's awhile ago because my mom was having bp issues and has a cyst on her adrenal gland and that is something they wanted to rule out for her.  If I remember correctly it is auto-immune in nature and it causes the adrenal gland to be underactive in one (or more) of the hormones.  It's the opposite of Cushing's disease which is also autoimmune but is too much cortisol.  I know there are tests for it (urine tests and giving you a medicine to see if it has any effect) and I know the testing was stressful for my mom.  I'll be praying for you.

don't get yourself stressed  dac about addisons I believe it is pretty rare. even if you do have it it is very treatable.Try not to worry until there is something to worry about.that is what my hubby alway's tells me.I'm prayin for you all !! we will get through this!! I agree with kitcurious.I think once you have experienced any king of illness it is very easy to become fixated on health concerns and have huge amounts of anxiety .  deep breath.... try meditation.I know that sounds king of OUT THERE but I  think mind body connection and calming ourselves helps.

I was diagnosed with adrenal insuf. and put on hydrocortisone to replace the hormone. What are your symptoms? I was having severe BP drop, weakness, sick to my stomach. I have been wondering if the thyroiditis I have had anything to do with it, I have read around here others that had thyroid problem ended up with adrenal problem but my endo said no, still not sure why or what. We all need prayers here, Jesus is just guiding me day by day to get through all this. God Bless you all.

Addison's is pretty rare ( one on 100k people ?) so the probability of your having it is pretty low. Try to stop searching the subject. If you don't have it, it's kind of wasting yor time and feaking yourself out for no reason.

I'm sorry to say that I don't know a thing about Addison's, but wanted you to know that I'll keep you in my prayers, Dac.  Keep strong in your faith and remember that you're not given more than you can handle.  Sometimes easier said than done, I know.  BUT, we'll be here for you!!!
HUGS!!,
