Are the new meds causing this?

I am on an antibiotic and synthroid. I just started taking it last week after my surgery. My skin on my face and head is getting dry and flaking like crazy. My head itches some, my hands are sooo dry and I am itching in places all the time. Is this being caused by the meds you think?

Well the itching has stopped but the dry skin persist. I have to finish out my antibiotics and I may see if I can just cut my pain meds in half. I have not found anything works as well as what I am on. The type of antibiotic I am on is the kind they often give people for acne or ear fluid, it is a drying type of some sort. My first thought was that it was drying my face and such out like it would be if a acne patient was using it. What do yall think? I don't have any other symptoms and feel fine otherwise......I just look like crocodile with all these scales(dry skin)! lol

It may also be a reaction to the antibiotics too.  You may want to check with your doc as soon as possible, or just go to a walk-in clinic where they may be able to tell whether it is an allergic reaction or not.

Any chance that you can cut back to something less harsh in terms of pain meds like extra strength Tylenol and see if this goes away?

As long as you're not having any breathing problems, or swelling of the tongue/throat, it shouldn't be life threatening but, you cetainly want to get OFF of whatever med is doing it!  It's likely either the antibiotic or the pain med but, a doctor should be able to tell you more reasonably.

Yes I am still they hydrocodone concoction they sent  me home with from the hospital. I am still taking one or two a day to help with swelling and pain, mostly so I can sleep comfortably. Is this reaction life threatening I wonder?

Are you on pain meds? I had the same problem and I was having a reaction from my pain med.
