worried sick

I am a 53 year old female who had a stent put in LAD artery 1 year ago. 3 weeks later I had a stroke which left me with no sensation on right side. Afew weeks ago had a routine sonogram of carotid arteries. A enlarged lymph node was found in left lobe of thyroid. Only symptom is I have been getting night sweats since May. Not drenching ones but bad. ENT surgeon had a ultrasound done found 2cm Lymph node in left lobe of thyroid having needle biopsy on 12/20/06. ENT dr. said they are checking to see if it is lymphoma or thyroid cancer. What is the difference between an enlarged nodule and a enlarged lymph node. and is 2cm consider to be large. sometimes by the evening my voice gets hoarse. Please give me all of your advise
Thanks and happy holidays. I have been through alot this year. I had to learn to walk learn to do the everyday things a person does. I am doing pretty good except now I am so worried about this enlarged node they found. It was not there 6 months ago.

I forgot to mention that both lobes of thyroid are mildly enlarged and somewhat heterogeneous. What does this mean. Oh the 2cm Enlarged lymph node is lateral to the upper pole of the left thyroid lobe. Does this mean its in the lobe or near it. I am so confused.

If you are not getting answers here,
you can address your question, if its thyroid related issue, to:
Mark Lupo, M.D. at "The Thyroid Disorder Forum" Medhelp
click on the title at top of page,  or

It might take a few days for the doctor to answer, so be patient and keep checking in.

Some times we just don't know, therefore don't answer to a post.

Good Luck!
