Back Again....

Well finally got all my tests done and the uptake didnt show cold or hot nodules. He wants me to retake all my labs due to the last time being in april. He told me there is no doubt that I have a multinodular goiter but blood work and antibodies are normal? So now on the 23rd I have to have a biopsy and he said that will also help determine if im going hypo or hyper.

My question is? how is the biopsy done? and what does he mean it will show which one im going to be.....How will they know? and finally if they do find out will they still wait to put me on meds if my tsh, t3, t4 are are very low but still within ranges?
Thanks guys/gals. All your help is great=}

In general, the  nodules [except "hot"] larger then 1 cm are biopsed; however if you will repeat the ultrasound and the nodules will be same size, you may postponje biopsy.If, on the other hand, the nodules are growing the biopsy is necessary.

The scan can show cold or hot area of about 3 mm, the ultrasound shows features about 2mm size. If the nodules did not show on the RAIU scan image the nodules are "warm" that means they can be composed from normal but overgrown thyroid tissue, most likely benign.
The biopsy will not show if you are going hypo or hyper; TSH and T4 tests are show that.
