Biopsy Experience UPDATE

Hi All

I had one nodule biopsied on Thursday. I have to have the other done this week. Thanks for all your advice. I think it helped me keep calm throughout the procedure because all of the things I was experiencing seemed normal according to your reports. The anesthetic burned, and I am not sure it did much. The needles weren't painful going in but the movement of the needle up and down side to side etc while collecting the samples was uncomfortable. I was surprised that one nodule would requires 6 times to draw out fluid, but that is what he did. I will find out how this one came out next week when I get the second biopsy. I expect it will all be fine. I have not experienced any bruising but it has been sore. Surprisingly, it is still sore. I also experienced some achiness. Maybe the aches are unrelated but it all seemed to start after the biopsy.

The doctor thought it would be too much on one day. He would not do them both. I feel better today. One more time and then hopefully I will be done for awhile.
blsdnsvd I think our experiences were very similar. ccurci I hope you like your new doctor and that all goes well for you.

hello, why do you have to get the nodules done on separate days? I had both sides done 1 at a time but at the same procedure. i agree it didnt hurt going in but was painfull when the dug .
i am going to a new endo next month because i dint like the previous one i went to. she wanted me to get another Fna in six months. I had hurthle cells in my nodules. i didnt have the strength to go back in six months (that was almost 2 years ago) anyhow now my thyroid isnt really functioning lately. i am on synthroid and now my newest medicine added to the mix is cytomel. my t3 is low my primary care dr prescribed the cytomel last week. i look forward to going to the new endo. and yes i know i will have to get a fna again but maybe this doctor will do the right thing as far as this is concerned.
good luck,
camille

I've had biopsies of  nodules and i am certain that all surgeons use the same technique to draw a biopsy because they need to present more than one sample from one nodule. The constant pushing and pulling is soooo annoying and uncomfortable and that is the reason the area is very sore for a while afterward.

I pray that all goes well for you.
