Calcium??????

My surgery is almost here!!!  Should I start taking calcium?  Will it help with my paraT at all?

Do not take anything without the recommendation and consent of your surgeon.  Too little calcium in not good, but neither is too much calcium.  I've had experience with both.  Let the surgeon decide.

I had partial Thyroidectomy on Jan 16 2008 (right lobe) they found papillary cancer so I had the remainder removed on Jan 22, 2008. My calcium levels dropped after the first surgery and I have been taking massive doses since then. I would go ahead and start taking a little more than you actually should. That might store up some,,this is just my opinion, my case is different cause I had gastric bypass 6 years ago and I don't absorb vitamins like I should. My calcium has dropped in the past week and I have had lots of horrible cramping leg and lowerbody pain. You might ask your DR and see what he has to say. As for the  surgery, you will be uncomfortable,,,but you will make it thru ok....keep us posted
