Thyriod problems

I was just wondering if any one out there could give my some advice. I had my whole thyriod taken out about 6 months ago. I have had problems ever since. They clipped my vocal cord, I have to speek in a whisper, hard time swallowing, i get water in my lungs from all of this, its a night mare. Also no one can figure out why I am still in pain. I cant do much of any thing. The synthriod that I am one doesnt seem to be working. I have had to switch doc's. I just feel so depressed from all of this and stil i'm in the same place I was in 6 months ago. There's probably more but every body has there problems. I was woundering if any body had some advice, or if there was any body out there like me. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

I wish I had more for you hun, I know how much you must be struggling.  I am responding again to bump you up in the hopes that someone with the surgery experience can give you some advice.

I would however definitely demand that your doctor look into whether or not you have some sort of adhesion allowing fluid (I guess it would be saliva - i dunno) draining where it should not be.  As far as swelling under the chin, I would have guess an infection, either related to the surgery (considering your thyroid was infected somehow) or not related, like an infection in the mouth or salivary glands.

Im not sure what my diagnosis is. My doc never really came out and said, I wasnt very happy with him or my surgery. I got some of my records, and half the stuff, I did not understand. The reason he took it all out is because he said when he got in there it was the largest he had ever seen, also he said it was infected. Not sure from what. I wish I would have just left the big lump in my neck there. That is how frustrated I am. Now I dont know were to turn. I have another doc, but I still feel like I have no answers. He so far is just looking at the vocal cord I dont know how to get any one to listen to me.

I am so sorry about your trouble.  I can only give you my opinion (which probably does not really matter much given I have not been through what you have), from what you discribe in your journal entry, it sounds like you have an infection now.  From what you said in your post <>, (again, I am no doctor), but could you have what could be called a "fistula" (there may be another term for this for the neck / throat area, but basically, it means that there is an adhesion of one tissue to another with a hole allowing fluid through).  I'll give you an example:  when a woman has a vaginal delivery and gets a "tear", the healing process can cause a fistula, wherein the vaginal wall and the rectum stick together with a small hole which allows fluid to move through.  I know that sounds gross, but it is the only example I could come up with.

My whole intent of responding really is in hope that someone here with more experience in this could possibly give you some guidance.  I wish you well.

By the way, would you mind sharing your diagnosis and the reason for your TT?
