Why the changes??

Had to go in a see my regular doctor today for an abscess that showed two different types of infections.

Infection not going away so will have to have CT scan of (embarrasing location) Left buttock to see if it is actually deeper than thought. Yes it is still painful. It was cut and drained a week ago. I am currently on two antibiotics for it, but don't see a difference.

Another note, she tested my TSH level 10-31-08  and it came back .44, so she has lowered my level of Levothroid to 100 mcg. I had requested it back in Aug, but the Endo told me my TSH level was fine at .95.

Can anyone tell me why when you have no thyroid and take medication faithfully your TSH levels change? I mean is it because we get older (38) and our hormones change as we age (get wiser)...

They have me on Bactrim for the Klebsiella pneuomniae and Amox for the streptoccocous. Mine was the size of a golf ball as well.

Started feeling pain on a Monday and thought it was an inside hemorroid, so I self medicated with Prep H, BUT by Thurs. it was to painful to walk or sit. Went in and you guessed it, I misdiagnosed myself (hey I did not stay at a Holiday Inn). They started the Bactrim thinking it was a simple infection. Had to take it for two days before they could cut and drain. Went in on a Saturday they cut and drained (most painful experience of my life)......Went back in on Monday to remove gauze, doctor looked at it and said it was still firm and just left it at that.  (Not my regular doctor). I did ask about the pathology report and when he looked it up he told me he was surprised it was the K. pneumoniae, so I was told to stay on the Bactrim (10 day course). Got a call Wed from the doctors office telling me that the doctor looked at the pathology report and there are actually two different types of infections going on. The second one is to be treated with Amox for 7 days. Still having pain, although not as bad. My regular doctor thinks infection still there......so off I go for a CT scan.

I think I got it from a colonoscopy I had done back on Oct 20, but they will not admit it. My regular doctor told me I just have a weak immune system and I could have had this infection for awhile. I am at their mercy...it will most likely be about 3 days before I get the ct scan, another 3 days before my doctor gets the results and another week before I go see her....in the mean time as long as I am not running fever grin and bear it...
