Synthroid increase causing hyper symptoms

Hi Gimel!
I recently tested at Tsh 5.5 range(0.45-4.70)  Free t4 1.3 range 0.7-1.8 and had hypo symptoms.

My doc raised my dose from 88 syntroid to 100.

After 1 week I have felt jittery and couldn't sleep one night.

Is it true that when you increase syntroid, you may feel jittery because, even if you are very hypo, it takes a while for your thyroid to be able to process the increase? I have read that when you first increase, a lot of the synthroid cannot be absorbed by the thyroid and it "spills" off into your system causing you to feel hyper temporarily.

If not tested for cortisol and ferritin it would be a good idea to get those done at first opportunity.

That 12 mcg is a pretty small increase.  Since T4 has a half life of about a week, that means that you would only have gotten about half of  that effect.  So I am surprised that you would notice it.  If it bothers you too much, you could reduce the amount of increase to see if that helps.  And if that works, then you could increase to the full amount in a few weeks.  That is a very conservative approach.

Another possibility is that your body is reacting due to the effect of other variables.  Have you been tested for cortisol, ferritin, and Vitamin D?
