Causes of PVCs

Are PVCs a symptom of hypo? I have been getting them for 5 months now. I was just recently told that I am hypothyroid and started on 30mg Armour (1 month now) I was also given a low dose beta blocker. They have lessened a bit but still not gone. Will the palps subside as my Armour is upped? Palps are just horrible to live with.

Thanks

A little extra time on that dosage has no detrimental effect other than suffering with symptoms longer.  In view of your symptoms, and prior thyroid levels I think I would push for an earlier appointment, since T3 meds reach full effect on blood levels in less than a week and the T4 portion of meds will be over 90 % of final blood levels in 4 weeks.   If you decide to push for earlier appt., emphasize the symptoms and that the med will be essentially fully reflected in your blood levels by now.

What has been done to address the low Vitamin D, and B12?  Also, are you aware that ferritin that is too low in the range can cause palpitations?  If not done already, you should be tested for ferritin also.

Thanks for the great info. Yes, you are right...I was low in Vit D and B-12 also. I hope it's ok to wait one more month for anther test. I would then be on that initial dose for 2 months without an increase. I've read about being on the initial dose for too long and not being good for you also.

You should be ready for follow up testing to see how much effect the 1/2 gain of Armour has had for you.  Don't forget, don't take your morning Armour med until after the before blood draw for the test.  That will give a more representative result, since the T3 gets into the blood so quickly.

Keep in mind that the range for Free T3 is far too broad.  A functional range for healthy adults with no thyroid problems would be more like the upper half of the current range.  That is why so many members say that symptoms relief required Free T3 in the upper third of its range and Free T4 around the middle of its range.

If you haven't been tested for Vitamin D, B12 and ferritin, it should also be done.  Hypo patients are frequently low in those areas as well.

I started on Armour 1 month ago. PVCs started 5 months ago.
Scratch that TPO and FT3 from above. I had that written down but don't know where I got that. Below info is straight from the report.

Thyroglobulin Antibodies 36 <60
THYROID PEROXIDASE A 34 <60
FT3 2.6 range is 2.2 - 4.0

Please clarify a couple of things.  The PVC's started about 5 months ago.  When did you start on the Armour?  Also, is that TPO test for TPO antibodies?   On thing further, please double check the reference range on the Free T3 test.  All the different ranges I've seen were more like 2.3 - 4.2.

TSH 2.383  Range: 1.8 - 3.5
FT4 0.9  Range: 0.8- 1.8
FT3 2.6  Range: 2.3 - 3.3
TPO 43  Range <20

These were my numbers before I started Armour. I haven't had any testing since (1 month ago) Dr wants to see me in 1 more month.
I'm still tired but not as bad as I was before starting. Hair doesn't seem to be failing out as much. Still can't lose a pound.

Palps can be a symptom of both hypo and hyper.  Assuming you were hypo before starting the Armour dose, with that low starter dose, I would expect you are still hypo.  Do you have any other symptoms?  Also, please post your thyroid related test results and reference ranges shown on the lab report.
