My Miss had tested Thyroid Stimulating Hormone it resulted 6.54 = (Range - 0.50 - 5.54)
My Question is What would it resulted and what type diet to controle and medicines to take..
I am from Mahabubangar Town, Andhra Pradesh,
Dr.Suhashini, she is not able to tell..me..the question.
Please Answer me...

Thanks for the advice, that is also my level, and I just got diagnosed and was feeling nervous about starting the medicine as I didn't know if my level was high enough yet.  (In denial and not knowing about all this)  So thanks for easing my mind.

Hello,

this means you are hypothryoid.  You need to take some medicine called levothyroxine.  Most likely you start with a dose of 25 mcg.  After 6 weeks can test again. Target TSH will be range of 1.0 - 2.0.

If you can ask your doctor to test FT3 and FT4.  THese should also be middle to upper half of the reference range.
