Central Hypothyroidism + Hashimoto

At wits end at this point...dx central hypo + hashimoto new endo prescribed  synthroid 125mgr +  titre(cytomel) 10mgr.  Read up on meds , condition etc but have absolutely no improvement infact feel awful with cytomel combo and will probably have to stop. Wrote to endo who told me to stop cytomel now believes that blood levels will 'have to do' because she can't understand why? She's about the tenth doc that seems to have no idea why these levels don't rise and dosent seem to be to interested either unfortunately...grr...gh. There must be some reason musnt there? I've taken different brands , combos, doses nothing budges these levels. For some bizarre reason all my symptoms pass when ft4 and ft3 are in the mid to high range prob is that they don't stabilise? Having central hypo I've read up loads but very little that is similar to my case? Anyone any idea. Did adrenal testing all ok at least it seems? Help?????????????

What were your most recent lab results? Post them with the lab ranges so I can take a look.
Yes when you have hashi's your levels go all over the place. You should be getting bloodwork done every 6-8 weeks until you are leveled out and optimal for a 3 month period.

Thanks...I didnt know this. You mentioned that you are still increasing meds? Are your levels rising? Mine don't seem to coincide with med increase infact apart from the famous 2  6 month periods mine tend to lower. I've tried different brands, combos but it seems to give me a lot of different side effects i.e. headache, blurred vision , some palpitations plus absolutely no change on my hypo symptoms or test results. As I mentioned my endo recently added cytomel. I was thrilled , read up etc, thinking this is it... again absolutely no effect and feeling even worse? Can that be possible?  My only hope is that I do understand if my ft3 and 4 are higher I can feel great which I have done in the past. Thank god for that at least otherwise I woud really feel like I'm going mad...as one doctor suggested. Do you think the fact that I have central hypothyrodism is putting a spanner in the works? Thanks a mil!

You have Hashimoto's.....you are not going to stabilize until the antibodies have completed their destruction on your thyroid. When your thyroid is dead you will then be able to reach and stay at a stable dose. You are right, most with hashi's feel their best when free's are mid to high range of normal and the TSH should be suppressed at least under a .50-1.0.  Maybe your doctor doesn't have an understanding of hashimotos and how it affects a lot of patients. It can be a difficult road until you are able to stay at an optimal level for a period of time.
I have hashi's and still going through medicine increase ...it seems constantly....and it has been 3 yrs? I think. I pray every day that this destruction will come to an end soon so I can start to really heal and live a normal life again.
It is not a quick fix so you need to be patient.  :)
