I'm with the others -- my cholesterol was way up also and once I got on thyroid med, it came back down to normal, but at last check, it was high again. Like Peggy, I refuse to take med for it. I eat well, and take red yeast rice and fish oil supplement daily.
BTW -- I'm also hypothyroid w/Hashimoto's.......You need to get the blood tests that Tamra recommended above to see what your actual thyroid levels are.
My Cholesterol was up till i stated meds, then it came good but i now take a fish oil supplement as well..This is from Hypothyroid..
Thyroid disease can cause high cholesterol. I have Hashimoto's with nodules, and I work hard to keep it cholesterol in check.
You should get your TSH, FT3, FT4 and TGab TPOab blood work to determine if you have thyroid disease. There is medication that can treat it.

My cholesterol is very high (over 300). This is due to hypothyroidism and it will not come down until my thyroid levels get balanced. I am a "good eater" too. i will not take any Rx meds for this problem. I do take niacin, and try to eat right.
