Newly diagnosed, no symptoms

I had been to visit a new doctor for my checkup.  Recently got a call telling me my thyroid was low and I was being put on synthroid.  Just found out through reading that it is a lifelong medication.  I still have not had a conversation with the dr. About this.  But i have none of the symptoms I have been reading about with the exception of a bit of puffy face I have had the past couple years.  I am 55 and attribute it to age.  I have plenty of energy, skin is not dry, and I am rarely cold .

What has changed lately is my diet.  I have been drinking green smoothies a couple times a week, maybe 3-4.  These are filled with raw kale and spinach, sometimes Swiss chard.  I eat lots of broccoli, and drink almond milk.  All of theses I have just read are not good for the thyroid.  Is it possible I have brought on the low reading with my diet?    I know I need to call and speak with the dr.  Right now I am just set up for another blood test in 6 weeks.

They are retesting in a month but she doesn't believe it is diet related.
