thyroid cancer and RAI

I found a lump on my neck about a year ago..it turned out to be my thyroid. I had a lobectomy and turned out that i had follicular thyroid cancer.
I then had the remainder of my thyroid removed and im now on mediation three times a day until my RAI treatment next month.
Basically i have been feeling very anxious and nervous a lot of the time.im also very irritable and snapping easily at the smallest thing.
Is this normal for someone with thyroid problems? Will it get any better?
I have heard about beta blockers.apparently they make you feel less anxious?
Has anyone had similar feelings or any advice?

I had thyroid carsinoma cancer, fortunately mine was an easier one to treat. So basically with the thyroid, it controls so many different factors in your body that it very well may be the root of your challenges.  Until you start on synthroid or whatever thyroid replacement hormone your doctor puts you on you will, sad to tell you, feel like poo. It took about 3 weeks after i was put on my meds to start feeling any better..

Thank you, i hope it will get better.i am on liothyronine at the minute(3times a day).im told that after RAI i will be switched to thyroxine(1 tablet a day). If it means i feel back to normal three weeks after i begin my permanent medication..i will put up with it in the mean time.:-) thanks and im glad you feel ok now.

You will feel irritable, sleepy, fuzzy headed, slow, clumsy...all those before you get the RAI.  Are you on a low Iodine diet?  You should take a good multivitamin, that will help.  I waited without ANY meds for 7 weeks, I was a wreck.  now I feel totally normal.  Never took any beta blockers, just thyroid meds. You will get better and should feel normal after about 8 weeks on thyroid meds.  They will test you then and re-adjust as needed.  It will take several weeks to really get used to the meds, but you will feel normal again.
