High TSH

hi.... i have a friend that just got blood results back and his TSH came high (72) and his T3 and T4 levels came back absolutely normal... what could be the cause?  i'm quite worried...

estrelinha is absolutely right, his thyroid is dying and he's going very underactive, he must feel awful, but his t4 is normal because his thyroid is still trying to fight the disease. You should also ask your doc about pituitary problems too, as sometimes they can cause these types of differences in TSH and T4 I believe. But he needs treatment like yesterday I think! Good luck.

Hi, he must go as quick as he can to the ENDO, it's Hypothyroidism. He's poor thyroid is doing the best to keep the hormones levels in the normal range.
