Confused; Thyroid or no thyroid

My endo recently order another ultrasound of my thryoid because I'm experiencing a discomfort feeling on the right side of my neck.  I've been on 5mg of methizole (not sure if I'm spelling it correctly) for about 2 months also going for my blood work as schedule.  The last ultrasould showing I have two solid nodules with one that is enlarged I have been given two options 1. surgical remove my thyroid and continue on life time medication 2. biopsy of my abnomal nodules to determined if they are malignant or benign and at the same time working with medications to get my hyperthyroidism under control.  Can someone give me their point of view to the sitatuation I'm currently facing?

Antithyroid meds particularly  - can be extremely harsh on the liver and should be tested regularly.

ronnie.

Antithyroid is something used for hyper cases. Anyone without a gland has the opposite and take thyroid assistance medication.

All forms of any meds can have an effect on liver enzymes.

One question I would be asking is.......
Has the Methimazole affected your Liver Enzymes at all?
Long term use of antithyroid medications can cause Liver damage if not monitored properly.
Also you should be having labs done every 4-6 weeks if you have hyperthyroidism and taking antithyroid meds.

Well - it sounds like you have abnormalities going on and need further investigation.

Your doctor suggested a biopsy of the findings - you also had a suggestion to have everything removed... personally the questions you are asking is a personal choice situation.

How big are the nodules? That could determine what path too. Have you done reading about solid nodules.. there is so much information out there. Usually solid nodules, warrant a biopsy depending on size -
