The volume the right lobe per Brunn et al is 7.2 cu cm;
The volume the left lobe is 6.1 cu cm
The total gland volume is 13.3 cu cm
This is larger than statistical average 7.3 cu cm (adult female in the US)
but less than upper size limit of 18 cu cm established by WHO (2003).
Based on the description there is no evidence of the structural damage of the gland from inflammatory process because its structure is homogeneous.
Doppler flow study can provide better information about a current inflammatory
activity.
Does free t4 fluctuate throughout the day?
Was informed by my gynecologist today that I have slightly high cholesterol.
Started b12 and b6 infections today.
Are there any test to check pituitary gland function?
I was looking at my sodium level from lab doctor did last month and it was 137 range 135-145, would this be reason for concern?
Second question, it also had my Sed Rate (ESR) was 26 range 0-22. Would either of these cause hypo symptoms?
I was able to pick up copy of ultrasound report:
1. The right thyroid lobe measures 4.78x1.80x1.73 cm. There is a 2+ right thyroid lobe enlargement, unchanged in size from previous examination of 5/9/2012. There is a homogeneous echo texture without evidence of a solid nodule development.
2. The isthmus is normal (AP measurement .37cm)
3. The left thyroid lobe measures 4.50x1.54x1.56cm. The left thyroid lobe demonstrates 2+ enlargement on current examination. The longitudinal measurement has increased from 4.1 to 4.5 since 5/9/2012 ultrasound examination. there is a homogeneous echo texture.
so anything about this stand out? Its all greek to me.
Hey Barb
I called my doc and the lab range they use is 0.7-1.6 for the ft4 test they ran that I got result of 0.87 with. So with this number how do those 2 ft4 results compare? Thanks for help.
Will look forward to seeing the ultrasound report, as well as the reference ranges for the one FT4. In the meantime, try to have a good weekend.
