Correlation between tinnitus and hypothyroidism.

In 2006, I started to have a ringing of the ears and then was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and have been taking 50MCG synthroid tablet by mouth every day.  I still have the ringing in the ears and very dry skin and my hair is dry and coming out. My T3 and T4 have been in normal range after taking synthroid.

I started having tinnitus about 8 months ago and was diagnosed hypo in April.  My last TSH, in June, was 1.92.  I take 50mg l-thyroxine and feel much better but the ringing goes on and on...

Now that you mention it, my skin is still dry and my hair is still thinning.  I'll ask for a free T3 next time.

Your symptoms suggest that perhaps your levels are not optimal.

What is your latest TSH and free t4?

The TSH should be around a 1, not just in the normal range.

My hair falls out when my TSH goes over 2. It just went from 1.4 to 5.1 and I have tons of hair falling out.

Request a FREE t3 and FREE t4 instead of total levels. They are more accurate.
