flyingfool and barb are right. I've learned you have to listen to your body. If you feel hypo you probably are.
If you will post your latest thyroid labs, along with their reference ranges, which vary from lab to lab, it will be much easier for members to help assess, and comment more fully on your situations.
flyingfool is right - a doctor diagnosing and treating based on TSH, alone, will keep you ill. You need to also have testing done for Free T3 and Free T4.
Fibromyalgia is a set of unexplained symptoms, that are often alleviated once thyroid levels are optimized.
If you don't have copies of your lab reports, and live in the US, your doctor is obligated to provide you with a copy, upon request.
Hi, when im became hypothyroid i got a lot of symptoms like constipation, weight gain, coldness, depression, Pain, stiffness & swelling in my joints, i drink a lot of water.
I think the earaches are because our thyroids are swollen and pressing on our throat and blocking proper drainage, personally. I went to an ear nose and throat doctor before I was diagnosed hypothyroid and they took my tonsils out, claiming that would alleviate my dizzy spells. They were wrong. The doctor kept saying, well, you have fluid behind your ears, but I don't know why... I think it's this thyroid thing! LOL
One day at a time is right. I do need to better understand my panel and hopefully find a better endo than the one I've got now. He was NO help! Good luck to you, too!
You both need to post your thyroid lab results.
TSH is NOT a good indicator what so ever when you are on Thyroid meds. it is VERY common to have TSH suppressed and would seemingly indicate Hyper but you still actually be hypo.
The Free T3 and Free T4 tests are critical to obtain in order to access the situation accurately.
if the Dr. goes only by TSH and pulls you off the meds or reduces your meds thinking you are hypo you may very well feel worse. Obviously if you are actually Hypo and they take you off meds you will be MORE hypo.,
You are NOT Hyper if you exibit no signs of being Hyper. Dr's however want to rely on TSH only. And by doing so they keep their patients sick!
Fibromyliga and all the other symptoms are also common with people who are Hypo. So I would insist on obtaining the proper dosage and take care of your Thyroid balance before I would start taking other medications to cover a symptom and not get to the cause of the problem.
Dr's and pharmaceutical company's want to sell you 10 drugs to cover 10 symptoms rather than sell you one drug that solves all 10 problems! They make more money that way!!!
Please, both of you post your labs and see what can be learned by those results here. Then you will have some ammunition to talk to your Dr about!
