I quit taking a painkiller about a month ago. Went through a long period of withdrawal where I ate very little. I actually went from a very fit 200lbs (6ft4) to around 175-180 over the span of 3 weeks. During that time I was taking a variety of medicines to help with the withdrawal, Klonopin, Simply Sleep, Adderall, Clonodine, Immodium, Advil, Pepto Bismol, Bentyl, and Tigan at various points depending on the symptom.
I got a physical at about 31 days since I quit. At that point I was taking Klonopin and Adderall still. My doctor tested my TSH and my Free T3 levels because he was concerned about the weight loss.
The results came back with a TSH of 1.18 (.34-4.82) and a Free T3 of 4.47 (2.50-4.30).
So here's the thing. I have had they symptoms of hyperthyroid for a long time. It is the main reason I was taking pain medication. At a point while I was taking the pain medication I had these same tests done and they came back normal.
I know there are a lot of variables here, but I guess my question is... Can use of a pain medication lead to normal results? And could my physical deterioration and or multiple medications during withdrawal be responsible for the elevated levels seen now?
Any info would be appreciated. I could get a real good answer from searching the web. Thanks.
