Help Understanding Thyroid Test Results

Hello,
I've recently had some tests on my thyroid (ultrasound and blood work) and I would really appreciate help understanding them.  The Physician's Assistant I saw seems confused about what next steps should be taken.  If anyone could offer some guidance I would really appreciate it.  I originally went to my doctor for unexplained weight gain and the feeling of something being stuck in my throat.  I was told my blood tests have come back "normal" and have listed the ranges below.
TSH: 1.18
T3 Free: 2.7
T4 Free: 1.17

Unfortunately, some cysts were found in my ultrasound.  The largest on each lobe was about 6 mm and "contains internal punctate foci of echogenicity either due to proteinaceous debris versus calcification."  The right lobe measures 4.8 x 1.0 x 1.5 cm. Left lobe measures 4.8 x 1.2 x 1.8 cm.

Right now, the Physician's Assistant seems content to just let everything go.  However, thyroid issues run in my family and I'm wondering if I should seek a second opinion.  Any thoughts?

Thank you so much for reassuring me.  I originally received some conflicting info about what my results meant from the PA's office, so I was concerned.  Right now the plan is to follow up in a year.  Thanks again!

Your results are about as normal as they get!  FT4 is 60% of range, which is excellent.  FT3 is right at 50% of range.  TSH is right where it should be.

Thyroid cysts or nodules are very common.  If they're no larger than 1 cm, they're just watched for changes.

If thyroid problems run in your family, it might be a good idea to test again at some point.  However, at the moment, I have to agree with your PA.  My guess is a second opinion would tell you the same she's told you.

Oops!  I'm sorry, I didn't realize you needed the ranges.  I've listed them below with the results.

TSH: 1.18 (range 0.35 - 4.94)
T3 Free: 2.7 (range 1.7 - 3.7)
T4 Free: 1.17 (range 0.7 -1.48)

Please post the reference ranges for your FT3 and FT4.  Ranges vary lab to lab and have to come from your own lab report.

Any other symptoms?  How's your energy level?
