Cytomel - 4 hours b/4 calcium???

Hi,
I need help.  I do a smoothie in the morning that contains plain yogurt.  An hour after my thyroid meds which now include Cytomel in addition to my Levothroid (13 years now).

Do they mean calcium supplements interfere or ANY calcium interferes.  This is really a turn off to me as I also do a green powder in the AM in the smoothie.  I'm sure there are trace amounts of calcium (natural) in there and I take liquid minerals in the AM too.

I am battling Stage 4 BC and I need to consume these things.  Any ideas.  I could do soy for the protein source I suppose, but then I've heard THAT interferes with thyroid too.

Please help.

How much cytomel are you taking that you have to take it 3 times/day?  Most of us only take it twice/day.

Same goes for the calcium.  You shouldn't need more than 1200 mg calcium/day, taken at 600 mg twice/day.  That can usually be done at dinner time and bedtime.

I take 100 mcg Levoxyl in the AM with 5 mcg T3, then I take 5 mcg T3 with lunch.  Calcium, magnesium, selenium and other supplements get taken with dinner and at bedtime.

Unlike T4 meds (Levothroid), cytomel does not have to be taken on an empty stomach.  I don't think the calcium in the yogurt is enough to interfere with your cytomel.  Are you splitting your cytomel dosage into more than one/day?  Most of us find that it works better than way.

You should NOT take calcium/mineral supplements within 4 hours of any thyroid hormone medication.

I know you need the minerals for your BC, but can you start taking those in afternoon/evening?  It shouldn't really matter when, during the day you're taking them, just that you're taking them. I take all mine at dinner or bedtime, because by then all my thyroid medications have long since dissolved and been absorbed.

Soy should avoided for thyroid patients.
